One thing I’m really happy about so far this season is that everyone seems to be playing well individually, even the guys who aren’t producing right now.

That bodes well for the group going forward. Guys like Greig, Amadio and Gregor (eventually hopefully Perron as well) are all bringing good level of play, pace and smarts. This wasn’t the case in years past. When some of the other guys aren’t firing on all cylinders, these guys should compensate. We have a lot of players that can move around the lineup and play quality hockey.

Leads me to believe that when we are fully healthy, hopefully one day, this team will be really tough to handle because all lines can play and score goals. MacEwen looks rejuvenated and Cousins is playing well.

I’m still skeptical on whether or not we will make the playoffs but I think we will at least give it a very serious run this year.

Is it just me or this is the best I have ever seen Adam Gaudette play? He has looked like a legit NHL player so far this season

Should he be tried in the Top-6? Only problem is who plays 4th line C? That said, I'm catching on parts of the game I didn't see and Greig looked pretty good on the Stu line

But I wonder if this could be the most efficient forward group we could have :

Tkachuk - Stutzle - Gaudette
Greig - Pinto - Perron
Gregor - Cousins - Amadio

Gaudette is really growing on me and not just because he has scored goals

Realistically all these teams will be a challenge for us. Boston is having a tough start but trust they will be ready for a division matchup, and same for Buffalo. Only a few points are separating us from these teams and if they start clicking they could easily move past us. These teams know how important these points are even this early in the season. I assume these will be tight emotional games.

This team has history of letting points slip by. We need to seize the opportunity and play our game through and through. Some games we play well, some games we shoot ourselves in the foot. Consistency is what separates good teams from bad teams and we have yet to show any kind of consistency.

I would not assume that a “realistic” outcome against these teams is going 3-1-1. It all depends on how we play and we are very much in a similar spot to teams like Seattle, Boston, NYI and Buffalo at this stage of the season.

We can win against anyone. Need to take it one game at a time.

Tkachuk goal from the outside was my takeaway form the game. Great shot to score from a place he couldn’t when he was 18. Has been doing it for a couple of year but there was a time when the talk on Brady was “if he leaned to actors form outside the slot look out he’ll be a consistent 40-50 goal man.”

Gaudette is an interesting player because in the best circumstance he will be here long term. If the Sens are a true “organization” and taking long term look, they may be looking at Gaudette as a long term fit who can work his way into the top 9 and maybe the top 6.

I’m sure a selling point to Gaudette was the Sens need Right Shot depth with G and Perron aging out. Detroit in their hay day did this with so many aged Vets, plucked from the AHL or depth lines on other teams to become serviceable NHL players for years and contribute to a winning team.

Going to keep an eye on Gaudette and see where this goes. Dont think he is the size or speed for a full time top 6 roll but could be a good depth piece for us for the next few years playing RW on all 4 lines and depth C and be a real option on the 2nd P.P.

There's a few things starting to become evident that are differentiators

1. I think everyone we're dressing are legit NHLers. Zub is out. 2 or 3 years ago that might have meant 3 guys dressed that shouldn't be in the league. Right now, we're dressing 6 legitimate NHL D. Same up front. We've got a couple key guys out and we've got one kid call up that's going to force his way into the league permanently quite soon I think.
2. Every team loses points. Every team can look back and identify 5, 10, 15 points they shoulda, woulda, coulda had. Ullmark right from the get go said we can't let 2 losses turn into 3 or 4 or 5. Coming from Boston... that's how they've remained on top. Commanding performance from him. He gave up one and watching it live, he looked terrific.
3. Nick Jensen really looks good. Idk maybe it is extra structure but that guy is a stabilizing force.

Early on in the season he was shooting from further out but kept missing the net.

Since he’s been going to the net he’s been scoring a lot more.

Our PP clicking without him shooting from that right circle to the point has made the question a bit moot for the time being.

With the score he didn't have a ton of pressure but this is what I was wanting to see from Ullmark, did what he needed to do and gave no freebies.

These two are really changing the look of the team feels like every line can score when they're on.
3rd line still looking for chemistry offensively but Pinto missing and is the big piece there.
Am glad I missed this one what great win to get for confidence after or so so road trip.
Look like Stu had his best game of the season, was he best player on the ice?

I attribute this to, in comparison to DJ Dorion hockey, they look so much more mature, engaged, serious and dialed in. They finally play with some kind of urgency.

Maybe Travis Green is having a really positive impact. This coaching staff is gaining my trust

I really like this game tonight. Who doesn't like an 8-1 win, right. It wasn't the goals that I liked. It was the style that we played. It was a total shutdown from puck drop till the buzzer sounded. We made them pay for their mistakes and we didn't give them many mistakes to capitalize on. I think this is a true testament to moving ahead with maturity. I saw much more mature game from them.

The goals are all results of hard play. It was not about an open game and no defense. We buried the chances we were given because we earned them. It wasn't our guys having to push the offense or playing loose. We played a tight game and dominated and won the battles and those created the goals.


I don't know if anyone else saw the game how I saw it but I was impressed with the play. They play that way in the goals will come. Course. This won't happen every night but they play like that and the goals will be there.

Ullmark was good but he didn't need to be great. That's all we needed was average goaltending. That's how it should be. We don't need someone to stand on their head if we play right. I love to see a goaltender steal a game or two for us, but I don't want to rely on it or our team to think that that's going to happen.
