I really love how Gregor uses his speed methodologically. He doesn't just buzz around like a headless chicken.
Unbelievable that the Leafs didn't qualify him, he's great in our bottom 6 and on the PK. I like all of the additions in the off-season. Looking forward to Perron returning, hope everything goes well with their new baby. Such a sad thing for the family to go through.

I think goaltending has alot to do with the offense.

In the past few season so many times, the team would come out strong and then the goalie would let in a soft goal and deflate the offense.

Ullmark can give the guys confidence to run and gun.

I'd rather us be like Grant Fuhr and the Oilers then Brodeur and the Devils. Fun hockey to watch.
But I didn't see a lot of run and gun in this game. More the 5 man unit (with a couple of hiccups). Timmy was playing D when he got the opportunity and scored that beauty. I'm seeing improvement in their D play and away from the puck. I expect them to continue improving as the season goes on.

Yup! He's been good and he is tenacious.

I hope they come out of it in good spirits and with a healthy baby!

Our next games are back to back right? Do you think Green starts Ullmark for both games? It's still early in the season, so fatigue shouldn't be an issue.
There are 2 B2B in November if you include Nov 30/Dec 1st so I expect Forsey to play the Kracken and either Anaheim or LA. There are 14 games in November, I expect Ullmark to play 9-10 games. That should get him in a groove but not overtax him. Forsey's played well lately so he should be OK against non-playoff teams (NYI, SJS, maybe Oilers if McDavid is still injured by then).

Giroux and Norris playing almost 2 full minutes more than anyone else. You can see Green trusts them more than others.

Next most used forward… Zach Ostapchuk.
Probably because they both play on the PK as well as PP1.

Is it just me or this is the best I have ever seen Adam Gaudette play? He has looked like a legit NHL player so far this season

Should he be tried in the Top-6? Only problem is who plays 4th line C? That said, I'm catching on parts of the game I didn't see and Greig looked pretty good on the Stu line

But I wonder if this could be the most efficient forward group we could have :

Giroux - Norris - Batherson
Tkachuk - Stutzle - Gaudette
Greig - Pinto - Perron
Gregor - Cousins - Amadio
MacEwen

Gaudette is real
The Perron-Pinto-Amadio line was very good before Pinto's injury and Perron's family issues. I'd leave Greig on your 2nd line and Gaudette on the 4th instead of having Cousins play Center, something he hasn't done in awhile. When you have a 4th line that can produce and plays well defensively, then the ice-time can be spread out more equally. For me the lines would be:

Giroux-Norris-Batherson
Tkachuk-Stutzle-Greig
Perron-Pinto-Amadio
Gregor-Gaudette-Cousins
MacEwan

Good thing we had Ullmark. Probably lose 9-8 with Korpse lol.
I felt bad for Korpse last night. He lets in 1 goal and Boston gets shutout. That is a painful L for his record. However, I'm happy Boston lost as it's good for us in the standings. Man, the Atlantic division is so tight.

Ya that sounds like a tough one. 1-2 with .872 save % so far, but actually sounds like he's been okay outside of 1 bad game. Good for Boston to lose either way, agreed.

Do you know what Gregor's QO would have had to be for the Leafs to qualify him?

If you asked me what we missing Id say a solid top 4 RD, a top 6 C, and a depth forward and we'd really be in competition for playoffs.

Zub
Pinto
Perron

We have all the pieces, we just need health.
Going to disagree with you on the top 6 C. Norris is playing well enough, both ways, to be considers a very good 2C. Pinto is a very good 3C who can fill in at 2C.

Stützle is top three in the NHL in P/GP. Grieg and Giroux can also be fill type C's.

It is probably our greatest strength as a team.

That would be generally acceptable to almost any team that viewed him as a 4th liner. I wonder why Toronto did not sign him; did Toronto acquire a better 4th liner?
He would have been able to take them to arbitration, where he would have likely recieved more than the buriable amount but still low enough that they wouldnt be able to walk away

Not sure if they tried to sign him or not, but it was smart for Gregor to sign here given the greater opportunity to play.

Deserves to be in the lineup every night with how well he has played.

Does winning tight games against teams like Florida and Tampa count?

it would if they can keep it up and not follow up with games like Vegas and Colorado

Taking 1 step forward and 2 steps back. Those that 1 step forward counts?
