Korpisalo was a terrible acquisition to begin with. It's no shock that a goalie with no starter experience and wildly inconsistent career as a backup performs poorly as a starter. Markström can also be erratic but he would likely make them significantly better.
No doubt but at some point the Sens need to stop blaming their goalies and get a defence/defensive system that can help them succeed.

Korpisalo and Boston's 1st. Lets make a deal.
Yeah no. They'd just keep Markstrom. I don't think I'd take a late 1st and Korpisalo for future considerations

I mean if the math is there then sure. If Markstrom at 50% is worth about 23rd OA then Markstrom (50%) + #28 is pretty close to #10. Using PuckPedia #10 = 34.22, whereas #23 + #28 = 28.51 (a difference of about a 2nd. Using the Athletic's GSVA chart #10 has a GSVA of 6.0 and #28 has a GSVA of 3.1 so according to that all it would take to move up is #30.
Yeah, I don't think it is outlandish I still don't think New Jersey would do it. My guess is that they would just take Markstrom at full freight for a 25 1st instead.

Maybe a conditional 2025 1st could be part of the deal from NJ if there's also retention.

Seems that Markstrom has let Calgary know that he does not want to come back. He also has a full NMC and I'm not sure what happened down the stretch in Calgary - did he just give up on the team, was he frustrated at not being moved after all the rumors? Either way, a 3.50 GAA & .872 SV% his final 11 starts while never finishing above .900 SV% in any game isn't going to help his value.

Put all 3 together plus his age and it shouldn't be a big return. Not sure how many teams he'd waive for, though it appears NJ is already on that list.

He came off of an injury and didn't play as much down the stretch as Calgary was trying to get a good read on Wolf, and to improve their draft position.

There's not much that can be done when your two goalies Korpisalo and Forsberg are at the bottom of the league in saves above expectation, which factors in how good a team's defense is at preventing chances.

That’s great on a spreadsheet but unless the Devils are absolutely desperate it’s unlikely to happen. On another note Edward’s seems the type to want Markstrom gone before his SB is due and not a guy who wants to pay 6M for him to play somewhere else.

What are you arguing here? That Edwards will force Conroy to make a trade regardless of return as long as it's before his bonus is paid, after actively preventing Conroy from trading him at the deadline? Calgary will just keep Markstrom if teams think they can get him for cheap

As a Sens fan I have a lot of experience with cheap ownership with very thin skin. Now that Markstrom had told the team he wants out it will be interesting.

If he didn’t say that then that’s different.
Even if he did, how does that change any value?
The team approached him in March, he said he'd agree to go to NJ (contender) instead of finishing his career on a rebuilding team.
I think he'd waive for Toronto too, but not sure about Ottawa.

A thread about a team being in on every conversation with a goalie and not a single mention of Saros any where in the thread.

Most teams want to move on from players who want out. I think we will have answers on his value by July 1st.

There’s no conversation to be had on Saros if the Preds are re-signing him

I've read a few articles on this, and they all say Ulmark, Markstrom and possibly Saros.
I think the feeling is that Nash wants to keep him.
AT any rate it seems NJ, Ott & Tor are the 3 most interested in a goalie

He's never said he wants out. He was asked if he'd waive for NJ, he said yes.

I think markstrom at full freight for 25 would be reasonable. You're not getting the retention with that
Jersey will offer up 10OA and Ottawa is left without. Calgary is going to get a serious overpay for Marky with this many bidders.

Markstrom won’t waive for Ottawa. It’s Toronto and Jersey.

I'll believe it when it happens

If Markstrom for 10 happens, I tip my cap to conroy. That's such a massive outlier, however, that I am just not going to bank on it. As I've said previously, you can make this value work for sure, especially on paper, 10 straight for Markstrom would be kind of insane.
