For those unawares, tomorrow is a huge game for the club. Getting anything on Vancouver would be incredible.
Hey, Ottawa-resident 'Caps' fan coming in peace.
The 'Caps have traditionally viewed non-league tournaments as development opportunities first and foremost and dressed lineups that have never really played together before (they barely scraped by Edmonton last year, including a draw in the home leg) so I would actually be quite surprised if the Fury managed less than a draw at home. I'll be at the game tonight, and unlike obnoxious Toronto fans (who, in past years, have thought chanting "USL, USL" at teams from cities whose grave sin is not being as large as Toronto does anything but lessen anything that TFC does) I am taking nothing for granted.
It's also a bit disappointing as a paying fan because they have a big break in the MLS schedule right now and could make more of an effort to go for it, but they probably figure that's what the home leg is for.
Even though there are 4-5 first-team names on the 20-man roster they've named, I don't expect any of the regulars to play much in the way of minutes, with the exception of Parker (sophomore CB), Hurtado perhaps (third-string forward) and maybe a guy like Mezquida, who has been a bit crowded out but deserves more playing time. I think what you might see is one of the starters (either Manneh or Rivero) come on in the 70th minute or so if the Caps haven't been able to generate anything. But the guys who I'd expect to see playing most of this match (such as the ones dmarc has listed) aren't exactly going to be shredding the Fury.
Does Ottawa tend to dress their first team for stuff like this, or are they also playing a balancing game with their league schedule?
