I understand where you are coming from and I do not disagree. The element that Savard brings is something this team needs.

The question is whether Savard is the right player to do it. He is not on the Kingston roster. I am not sure if he has been waived but my assumption is he has been waived. That means no teams picked him up for free. There is some scuttlebutt surrounding his deficiencies and how those deficiencies outweigh his positives, especially as an OA.

So, although I agree with your underlying premise, I am not sure you are focused on the right player. The one great thing is he would basically be zero cost! I like me some zero cost!
Zero cost is the part I like as it does not come along often and if it does not work out so be it.

There is a huge cost to getting Savard, He takes away from us getting what we need in an OA Center and IF we trade Donoso an OA Defence

The fact that no one wanted him when he was sent down says a lot. Also, consider this: Kingston sent him down and kept Callen. That says alot to me

Yes but you are not aligning what Analyser is saying properly. His comment was that my potential lineup was the start. We would then make additional changes. One of the changes was to remove donoso to open up an OA spot for Savard Who would add an element of physicality the team is lacking. So, in his scenario, we still get the Centre and d-Man (OA and Import) but we continue to make changes as required.

So, we would get the two key elements. The Savard element woudl be adding a third piece.

Zero cost is the part I like as it does not come along often and if it does not work out so be it.

Zero cost is great but there is also opportunity cost. The opportunity cost would relate to what we could do instead.

Look it is just a suggestion, their are much better options but at what cost. We do not want to waste a lot of assets when we are not a championship team.
I was in Kingston last week for the Ottawa game.
You guys actually showed a lot more toughness and physicality then I have seen over the past year or so with this group.
Unfortunate the injuries have been piling up but you can tell this is a badly wounded team right now.

Ottawa was a team that worked hard, won battles and maintained puck possession and won a lot of games solely based on that. -They played as a cohesive unit and won a lot of games.
I've noticed a lot of Individual play this year by certain players causing a lot of turnovers that lead to goals. Pinnelli specifically is one that the mistakes have stood out to me.

I said it is just a suggestion and we are not going to go and waste a bunch of assets to get an OA centre for a non championship year. We may not do a hell of a lot but us as individuals we are not going to decide anyways.

I Fully agree and that is also why the lower you go the better your chances of getting the pieces you need 2 of first 3 picks should be forwards preferably centers with skill and if possible size.

I like your line up, but again, if we are going to go into the rebuild and we want to draft the BEST PLAYER that fills our need, we need to make the playoffs but near the bottom.

I would prefer to see Barlas on the second line, Yanni Whitehead, and Korbler as the 3A or 3B line.

I have always been a fan of developing line Chemistry, which can only be done by playing players together as much and as long as possible.

I also think you are going to need an OA defenceman that you can use beside Dietsch or spell him into the system remmber for Yani Dietsch and Houben this is just like September for them they have to get used to the OHL level.

I am also not sure if bringing Houben up is a good thing. His stats are not high in the GOJHL, which could be because he is getting used to his body. Giving him the first of the season would, I think, be a benefit to him.

The lines were more to flesh out that we have enough bodies to get through the remainder of the season, if we were to sell off Ewles or Horner, Smyth or Sirman, Stonehouse, and Kelly, and add a cheap OA centre. It looks like there are sufficient bodies available provided our injury issues abate.

You raise a good point on Houben, Yanni, Dietsch, but from what I'm hearing those guys will be with the 67s for the remainder of the season (there are obviously pros and cons to this approach).

If Boyd does as OMG67 alludes to being a realistic case above (replacing an Import, adding an OA, keeping Stoney), we'd be basically treading water this season and probably next season too. We'll be a lower-seeded playoff team. Getting playoff reps for our players is a good thing, but in my mind we'd be kicking the can down the road. I think the bolder choice would be to cut a bit deeper this year and look to secure a top-8 or so draft pick and kick-off a rebuild (or whatever you want to call it).

I think we should strongly consider selling Mayich and MacKenzie, in addition to Stonehouse, Ewles/Horner, Sirman/Smyth, and Kelly.

I agree with you on Pinelli but I think sometimes he tries to do too much and gets frustrated.

He definitely does try and do too much, but its not without merit. He is really the only consistently dangerous goal scorer we have, with all due respect to Stonehouse. When Pinelli isn't scoring, the team as a whole has a difficult time generating offense. Lots of pressure on an 18-year old captain. He can and will improve, but I give him some credit for trying (even if it does come at the cost of turning the puck over more frequently than we'd like).

Usually there are two ways to go… Buy or sell. But, in the 67’s situation, it seems likely there could be some buying and selling which may make things interesting.

I am happy to see that Yanni and Dietsch look likely o stay with the team. I am not sure Houben will. Even with some deep cuts, I am unsure he would get viable ice time. We’d likely need to see Hilton, Kelly and Korbler be moved out. At least two of them anyway, especially if we bring in the centre.

Add Pinelli to the list of avai and I agree fully the sooner we start the REBUILD the sooner it is over.

For zero cost probably not much and the operative word is could. Zito would look good in a 67s uniform, but is he interested and at what cost?

My understanding is Zito is having some personal problems that are distracting him from hockey. I don’t know this as fact but that is the whisper right now. I think since they are personal in nature, most people in the know are giving him space to work on it in privacy. I think most hope he can get over his current struggle and resume playing but it seems unlikely it will happen this year. And for those that automatically shift it at substance abuse, it is not that as far as I am aware. It is more medical related which is why it is somewhat private in nature. LEt’s hope it is only a leave of absence. Good kid and player. I hope he turns it all around.

well said about Zito

Pinelli is a marvellous player and, with Foster, has provided a lot of our offence. What changed this year is the added expectations of the captaincy. Some players put that on like a new silk shirt, others like a chain mail vest. He has moderated his behaviour lately to avoid those badly-timed penalties. He is needed on the ice, not face-washing the opposition, like a Randy Cunneyworth. There is still work to be done.

Pinelli is only half way through his 18 year old season. His game needs maturity. That is normal. He is a skill guy that values the risk-reward type of play vs the smart-safe play. Mews is very similar in that regard. That leads to a fair number of very obvious mistakes that result in opposition chances.

Because this team lacks maturity on defence, when those mistakes happen they get even more focused. It is not like we have a kid like Matier back there 30 minutes per game covering for offensive zone mistakes and turnovers at the opposition blueline.

Pinelli will likley mature over the course of the season. He will likely become more impactful next season. His value may rise. I don’t think trading him this season makes sense. It would only make sense if he stood a chance of graduating Or we were able to snag a very high value can’t miss prospect like the Steelheads got last year (Martone for Beck). That sort of deal isn’t out there. I can guarantee that. Pinelli isn’t highly regarded enough to garner that return.

Dean Loukos traded to Miss for a 6th and a 9th. OA with 26 points this season. Bloom is coming back to Saginaw so this iniated the trade.

Had a feeling he would end up in Missy. Although I thought they’d likely find a D-Man.

This type of value move to fill out their OAs points to Missy gearing up for next year.

I doubt they make an impactful move.

I am not in favour many moves. Trading Pinelli doesn't make sense, but I thought it was premature to make him captain. There was the risk that it was too soon. I don't really know the dynamics in the dressing room, so perhaps I am wrong.

The cost is points in the standings if your PK can’t kill the stupid penalties he takes in the 3rd period of games. As a Fronts fan, feel free to pick him up! :)

You bring him in for some games and if it doesn't work out send him home. We will be short an OA for the rest of the season of which we have already been up until now.

It is just a suggestion which I did not think would get so much press. Any way we have no say in what is going to happen, so let it be.

It’s all good. You weren’t aware of the backstory. I tried to tell it on a more respectful manner than some. You had the right type of player circled. That is what I take away from your suggestion.

Sometimes people trying to be funny comes across as sarcasm. Don’t take offence.

Barlas, Smyth return tonight, Mack still not skating, Dever is skating, foster serving 4 of 6 tonight
