Your lineup would assume that Sirman would be back at D (which I don't disagree with BTW).
But I wonder if that is what they are going to do?
And if he does go back, seems he would need some games in to get refamiliarized there before the playoffs?
Seems to me Sirman would have more of an impact as a defensemen.
But because of the surplus of Defense when Smyth is back, would they want to have as much depth as possible in the 4 forward lines?
Not sure which scenario is bets.
I'm also curious as to what Cameron's plans are for Sirman the rest of the season. Depends on Smyth I guess. I think he's best used as a defensman, although I think he's performed admirably on the wing. If/when Smyth is back and healthy and IF Sirman is moved back to defense, we would have (what I think is) a really strong top-6, with Mews and Marrelli healthy scratched but ready to come off the bench if someone is injured or isn't performing well.
Alternatively If/when Smyth is back, and when Barlas is back, Cameron may choose to keep Sirman at forward and use Mews as the 6th defenceman. Nothing wrong with that. Assuming Sirman is part of the 18-man skater group every game (which he should be), it would be a trade-off between dressing Mews or either Kelly or Dever. Every indication is that Cameron would lean towards dressing Mews I believe, leaving Sirman at forward.
