I did not say that either :) I think it was if NB had a weakness that could be exploited with speed, it would be by the Petes.

The Petes had one 7th overall picked 17 yr old in their top 9 all season. Meelee (18) and Dubois (19) alternated lines 3 & 4. DeZoete (18) & Purdeller (18) toiled on the 4th line almost exclusively.

Gardiner would not be a 3rd line player for the Petes no matter how much you want to believe that. The key ingredient for the Petes 3rd line is grit, not scoring

You know the answer to that. Beck and Hayes were to get the most out of Othmann and create another excellent scoring line.

should be just about time for 2nd period action, and more Lardis & Panwar

F’n PANWAR! Love that guy…HATE that guy….

Are the 67’s a collection of fine crystal? I can’t remember a team with so many injuries. How do we continually have so many guys out?

This situation was the reason why I was suggesting we snag one more forward, preferably a centre that can shift to the wing so we had additional centre depth if this type of situation were to arise.

Two centres now out. Gardiner up to 2nd line centre from 4th line centre on Wednesday. Almost funny, not funny.

Two questions as I was at the game and didn't see the plays
1- what happened to Morrison? Did it look bad?
2- what did Mews do to warrant a major? Suspension worthy? They didn't show anything on the screen at the game...usually means he's been a bad boy!

Mews cross checked a guy in the throat, did'nt see or hear anything about Morrison

Whole team played bad but two players in particular. Mews has been great as a rookie but tonight couldn't do anything right, passing usually his forte was horrid. Forget about this one kid. I know Matier had three passes but he was not able to keep his head in the game tonight, was losing his cool. Thinking somebody peed in his cornflakes this morning. Our two best players by far today the Italian connection Marelli/Pinelli. Regroup and learn boys!

After going out to shovel off the back deck to access the hot tub…. Holy crap. So much snow today.

There was no sense of urgency tonight. No real forecheck. Poor passing. Lazy play. I had mentioned a while back that they played poorly when they were sick and I stand by that but JEZUS they were not sick tonight. This was just a lack of effort from the coach on down.

I need to believe that Kenny Walls‘ lineup when it stated Mayich was a healthy scratch. Are you trying to lose hockey games? If you have 10 D-Men on the roster (one out with Mono - Smyth) then send one down. Why are you sitting out a first pairing D-Man to give young guys a game? That sends the wrong message to the team right from the get go. “We can afford to sit 20 minutes per night D-Men against this team. No worries fellas. We got this.” We had our 8-9-10 D-Men playing defence this evening. Like WTF? Dress your top 6 as D-Men. Short on forwards because of two injuries? Don’t healthy scratch a damned forward (Kelly) and play a D-Man in his place. I thought Dave Cameron was a smart coach. Tonight’s strategy was simple. We can dress whomever we want and just roll them out and expect a win. That’s not how it works. It sets a VERY BAD EXAMPLE for the players. Sends the wrong message.

I get we ended up short three key forwards tonight when Morrison skated to the dressing room at the 13 minute mark of the 1st but we had more than enough in the lineup to beat Hamilton. No excuse.

There used to be a line on the dressing room wall, maybe it’s still there, maybe it’s not but it read, “HARD WORK BEATS TALENT WHEN TALENT DOESN’T WORK!” Hamilton proved that tonight and rubbed in their faces.

I’m willing to shrug this off as a learning experience but they better learn from it.

No one knows anything about Morrison but he skated off fine.

Mews will miss the two games and that’s it. It was borderline 5 minutes but IMO, it was legit. Not enough to get supplementary discipline though. Bonehead play. 67’s should probably extend it to 5 games for being dumb as F.

Morrison got checked fairly hard by Grushnikov which I think may have caused the injury.

It feels like a Friday the 13th….

Sarnia loses to Kingston
Ottawa loses to Hamilton
London loses to Guelph
Kitchener loses to Oshawa
Flint loses to Sudbury

***No offence to Sudbury and Oshawa but with Kitchener added assets and Oshawa peeling away assets combined with Flint ahead enough in the standings to suggest it was an upset, I probably would not have picked Oshawa on the road and Sudbury at home.

Damn Grushnikov. Soviets at it again. Old time hockey!

Hamilton played with structure and more discipline. They deservedly won that game. It could have been worse if the refs called all the provoking little hacks, slashes, trips, gloves to the face.
Hamilton has now beat the ‘67s X2, Windsor, and NB. NB could not get anything going in their 4-1 loss.

Losing Clarke at the worst possible time plus Guzda and Foerster being not nearly fit made the Colts a worse team.
Seeing Mintyukov in just his 2nd game with his new team, it’s clear the ‘67s are better (now) for the trade.

The 67s really seem to be missing Rohrer as well.
His skills with the puck and aggressive forecheck really rub off on the rest of the team when he is in the lineup.
The compete level appears higher when he is playing.

I'm not sure he would have been enough to slow down the "Panwar Express" though.

I hope Vinnie is doing OK.

Hamilton played about as good a game as they could and got rewarded. The 67’s were passive with their legs. No jump. No urgency. Passes were utter garbage. It should just be a one off that happens now and then in Junior hockey. As SchrIbes used to say, “predictably unpredictable.”

Regarding Mintyukov, he like to roam around a lot. That has to be reigned in a bit. The 67’s work well under a strong structure with crisp passing and loads of movement but in a structured way. Mintyukov likes to free-wheel. He’s going to need to tone that down a bit and ease into that style until the guys are understanding where he’s going. We have too many guys on the ice when he does that that don’t know where he is going and it is upsetting the flow. They are going to need ot play some strong scrimmages for a week or two with him in full effect so they get a feel for his aggressiveness.

As per JF plante he's doing very well. No headaches or sequelae. Probably be out for a bit as a precaution imo but everything is sounding positive.

If it is a concussion protocol, he would need to exercise for one week with no symptoms. Then he’d get cleared to play.

I wish we played Ottawa again. If we wouldn’t have shit the bed, we would’ve given them their first loss. With good goaltending you’d see we wouldn’t look out of place. Played right with North Bay on Wednesday and probably should’ve won. We’ll see. We’ve had difficulty in net this year. Flint should’ve never been winning that game and we’re no match for the Wolves talent overall. Watch a few games. Anyone who knows anything about hockey should know the Wolves record is not indicative.

Shhh! You might get your wish four times in round one of the playoffs :)
The ‘67s would probably much prefer Kingston though. I think the wolves could prolong that series and cost the ‘67s a physical toll they can not afford.

They might be a much harder bite to swallow than anticipated but you’re right. Maybe second or third round :)
