Now that the Bulls have a connection with the Sens through ownership, you have to think the deals of draft picks playing are done. too bad
Looks like Rohrer not coming back for 19yr season…big blow to the Poles
It doesn’t sound like there’s a decision yet. I FULLY trust 67’s management to nail the import draft.
Not really because I think they can make the 2 pics anyway just have to be down to 2 players at camp do they not?Not sure that is 100% confirmed. I understood it as him needing to make his club team in a role that makes sense for his development. I didn’t think that would be confirmed until later in the summer.
We’ll probably have confirmation if Ottawa makes two Import picks.

If you consider Küsnacht, Zürich you are rightI can tell you with near certainty that Rohrer will be playing in Zurich next season and won't be returning to Ottawa.
Rumour out of Sudbury is that mccallum wants a change put up 61 pts mite be a fit?Rohrer not returning takes every inclination of not selling out of the equation.
As of right now, Gardiner is their first line centre. They don’t have a 2nd line centre.
Whitehead wil likely be given an opportunity as the 3rd centre and I am 100% fine with that.
The only remaining question is whether they can unearth a centre in the Import draft and/or whether they can acquire an OA centre on the cheap to fill the gap at centre but they’d need to do that in the preseason. I don’t think they can wait. The wingers need the support. It doesn’t need to be a stud. It just needs to be someone capable of scoring in that 40 point range that can be responsible defensively. The skill on the wings will help prop up the centre.
Would Owen Sound make sense? Kaleb Lawrence could be available as Owen Sound has a surplus of 03s. 7th round LA Kings draft pick hungry to earn a pro contract. Put up 37 points in 50 games played last year as his first back after missing essentially two seasons due to covid and shoulder surgery. Played center in Owen Sound. Owen Sound could use help on the blue line and Ottawa seems to have a surplus. Seems like a possible trade partner.Rumour out of Sudbury is that mccallum wants a change put up 61 pts mite be a fit?
Any ideas on what is happening with Henry Brzustewicz and if he's signing here?
Seems weird 67's have signed their next 3 picks before signing him.
The reality is we simply don’t know the strategy for the upcoming season. I have an opinion on what I think it should be but just because I think a certain way doesn’t mean the team management feels the same.Rumour out of Sudbury is that mccallum wants a change put up 61 pts mite be a fit?
Barring trades and depending on the Euro draft and quality of the players we draft
This is the season's starting line up
Pinelli Foster Stonehouse
Beck Gardner Gerrior
Barlas Euro Dever
Euro Whitehead Hilton
Caden Yanni
Mayich Mews
Marelli Brzutewicz
Dietsch Ewles
Sirman Horner
Donoso
Blackwood
Nelson
Bold - 1 of these guys gets hit with the numbers bug. It also depends on how Cameron wants to go in the nets. This is a team that is in a retool, and having Blackwood play the majority of the games and a 16-year-old play a few is not unthought of. Ottawa has done it in the past. Again it depends on a lot of things but again this is all barring trades. we could see Ottawa trade Donoso for picks and a goalie
In that case, Nelson will go back to Jr CCHL
my bad should MackenzieWhy do you always omit MacKenzie in net? Do you think hey will trade the 19 year old that has two seasons in him to keep the OA that only has this season in him?
And, who is Blackwood? You’ve listed him a couple times and I have no idea who he is.
I think you will see Foster start as a center. Could be Barlas but I would put more money on Foster. This is what I have for next season:
Beck(OA) - OA trade - Stonehouse
Pinelli - Gardiner - Gerrior
Foster - 1st Import - Kelly
Barlas - Whitehead - Dever
Yanni - Hilton
Marrelli - Mews
Mayich - Brzustewicz
Sirman - Ewles
Dietsch - Horner
MacKenzie
Import or 2022 draft pick
I see the following transactions in the pre-season:
1> Donoso will be traded. If not in the pre-season then very early in the season.
2> Smyth will be dealt to a team that will afford him proper playing time. I think they will keep Sirman in the interim, at least through to the deadline.
3> They will fill an OA Spot with a placeholder OA Centre. Maybe a waiver claim or a cheap addition from a team with a surplus of OA’s.
4> Look for the 67’s to draft a goalie in the Import draft. If they don’t, then they have confidence in signing one of their drafted goalies from last year’s draft or the previous draft Coming out of training camp. They don’t need a D-Man Import and it is unlikely they add two Import Centres unless one of them is older.
Possibilities to look for:
1> Beck could transition to Centre. He has played there a little bit and when he has he hasn’t looked out of place. I think he is a better and more impactful winger because of his shot but he does work the puck down low well and is comfortable defensively. He may be the next Rohrer forced into playing centre.
2> Barlas looks to be the odd man out unless he slides back to centre. We could see some movement here with him or maybe Foster.
3> Trade or release one of their two newly drafted Imports for a more experienced Import.
4> Jack Beck traded at the deadline.
5> A breakout season for Kelly. There’s something about that kid that makes me think he may unseat Gerrior on that depth chart
6> Stonehouse trade at the deadline? Possible. If he is drafted this month and looks like a candidate for being signed and not returning as an OA, I think they will entertain offers at least.
This season screams RETOOL. They still should be competitive and probably hang in that .550% range but we should see some younger players starting to elevate their games and show they belong. We may see some other players get pushed aside by the younger guys. It looks like they’ve drafted well so we shall see what happens!
EDIT:
This represents more of a depth chart rather than actual line proposals…
It may also be good for the 67’s to look at trading one of the wingers in an effort to get a comparable centre. One in, one out.
my bad should Mackenzie
I think you will see Foster start as a center. Could be Barlas but I would put more money on Foster.
If we are looking at Barlas as a 3rd line player then we definitely screwed the draft. I think he either has to get 3rdline or needs to be traded. Let's be fair to the kid.
I don't see them panicking at center right away. I think they will go with what they have drafted and see how that works out.
Like you said this is a retool therefore you want to see what the new parts you have can do before you start putting old parts (OA) into the engine.
This is a team that should be more hungry and looking to perform. Lets see how the Euro and Whitehead turn out.
Also remember we are going to be looking at at least 1-2 surprise players as always on forward.
Who predicted Pinelli, Garner and Foster having the years they had? I am thinking Hilton is going to be one of them.
Has anyone seen the roster on the 67 website it is showing 6 goalies? If we have any one of these guys it is going to be interesting just not sure it is not a webmaster oops.
Marrelli - Mews
Mayich - Brzustewicz
Sirman - Ewles
Dietsch - Horner
Smyth will be dealt to a team that will afford him proper playing time. I think they will keep Sirman in the interim, at least through to the deadline.
We'll keep Sirman. Could end up being our #3 centre...
Hey OMG67,They really don’t have natural centres. They can stop gap a couple guys and shift them to centre but that’s not ideal. That said, I can also see them at least take their time And shift players like Beck, Foster and Barlas to centre in the interim. How long they do that is TBD. They can also draft centres int he Import draft but they would typically draft 17 year olds. Gardiner as the #1 with two 17 year old Imports in the #2 and #3 with 16 year old Whitehead in the #4 is a recipe for disaster.
If they move donoso, they will have two open OA slots. To me, it makes most sense to at least use one of those spots on a centre. IT doesn’t need to be an elite centre, jsut someone with experience that can be sandwiched between two solid wingers. Another Alex Johnson type would be fine. A Sanil Panwar wouLD be more ideal.
Hey OMG67,
Nice to see that you are still crushing hard on Panwar. So happy that he had a strong 2nd half after the Petes dealt him. Hoping he gets a sniff at a contract somewhere.
It isn’t approved yet so unlikely it will be done anytime in the near future. Is the new arena going to be finished for the 25-26 season. Should be interesting
