Lol keep us posted please.
I just called him and i tried to walk him through an account setup process to join this forum because I'm hoping he will do that instead of what he says he wants to do because he's literally going to get thrown inside the clink if he keeps up with this he's already burnt up part of the yard, he's pounded a half pint of skol and is locked out of his own house. This is not going to end well for him I haven't seen him like this since he burnt the Thanksgiving turducken he worked on for 3 days.

What? That's not a condition, that's a condition on a conditional pick. If the Sharks re-sign Karlsson and make the cup finals in 2019, then the Sens get a 2021 1st. If they just re-sign Karlsson, it's a 2021 2nd. If they don't re-sign him, it's nothing.
I misread. A 2nd rounder is still pretty lousy compensation. How Dorion couldn't squeeze a 1st out of that is beyond me.

I'm not even considering that. Why would they trade him?

Well one can never be certain of chemistry in the room when bringing in someone new. The same.van be said of contract negotiations. If nothing happens by the deadline maybe the sharks decide to guarantee that they get something of value back for him and move him elsewhere and for a better package then they paid for him.

Funny how the sens don't want him in the east at all. They really don't want this mistake rubbed in their remaining fans faces too much.

A plus tho, the arena name makes sense. They truly are a tire fire now...

We basically gave up Brett Howden and Libor Hajek + a First for McDonagh. We gave up Namestnikov and first for Miller. We paid more anyway you slice it. Hajek is better than every prospect included in this trade. Let alone Howden.

When you put it that way, we did pay more. And it still feels like we gave up nothing.

It's kind of an odd stipulation. It's not like the Sens are going to be competitive this year anyways.

i know you're shell shocked so it's understandable you're in denial right now. But no player who's looking to sign the last big contract of his career as a UFA is going to sign with a team with a complete idiot owner directing a total rebuild.

I'm not as shocked as I should be. A rental doesn't get as much as I thought I guess. And it's about to be Duchene and Stone's team the minute they sign. Nice pride in captaining a team from inception to hopefully success in the playoffs, but yeah, let's not pretend I'm excited about this. We're like the Leafs were, complete crap with no end in sight - except now Leaf fans are excited - and it took 2 drafts or whatever.

It's all cyclical and things change quick and Duchene and Stone know it. If and when they're traded - then I'll be pissed, right now, I think they take this team as their own.

Stupid Jets. If EK had just spent one year here he would have seen it's a great city and he would have re-signed with the Jets.

My only question is the wording with that condition, does he have to be re-signed for that pick to go to the Senators? From the way I'm reading it, it's saying "the Senators get a 2nd if he re-signs and a 1st if he re-signs and they make the cup finals in 2019". But is it "they get a 2nd if he re-signs, and if they make the cup finals in 2019, it upgrades to a 1st regardless of whether he re-signs"?

The rest seems pretty self explanatory, it's definitely a 1st and 2nd plus the players they got. I'm just confused to see what would happen if the Sharks make the cup finals in 2019, but Karlsson leaves as a free agent. Is that no picks or is that a 1st?

Im surprised that Dal or VGK couldnt beat that.
Yeah - this is the most surprising part. Tampa I'm sure *did* beat it, but another Western team probably could have/should have ponied up.

One thing - Vegas has (by necessity) a rather shallow pool. They've only had two drafts and they just traded one of their better prospects. Maybe they didn't want to rush a deal that was going to gut the quantity in their pool.

For Dallas... I really don't know. I can't believe they didn't top that offer. It makes no sense.

Honestly don't get why you don't just hold him until the trade deadline. At the very least he might help you get a few more wins and reduce your chances of giving Colorado an amazing pick... and I have to believe the deadline return could have been equivalent to this package (maybe not as many pieces, but certainly the more important draft picks).

Worst case scenario for SJ, they do not make the playoffs and they forfeit an unprotected 1st rd pick in the Hughes draft.

Absolute Worst case is Karlsson resigns in Ottawa next summer, and Ottawa wins the draft lottery with SJ's pick.

I think it was the fear of Karlsson not signing. Apparently he said no chance to signing any extension until his family finds out they like the city.
