Sharks will get a better return if they decide to trade him at the deadline before his contract expires.

Sens did an absolute trash job on this trade.

lmao

It's not even funny anymore, I just feel sorry for the Sens fans. This is f***ing brutal to watch and the season just started.

Was Thornton always 39y, or Pavelski 34y, or Burns 33y when those comments were made? No, they were in their primes.

The superstars of the team are getting old and theyll be struggling to rebuild the prospect pool in the following years.

People like you have been saying those guys or other similar guys like Marleau and Boyle before them were declining. Don't pretend like this is some new take on the Sharks. I've heard this stuff since at least 2010.

Wow this is brutal for sen fans... I'm speechless. I wanna laugh but I sincerely feel bad. Colorado and San Jose are the true winners here

They have to go all in, this season.

They have a helluva window but it's a short window.

If I was player, superstar looking for 8 year contract extension I wouldn't do it with a team like that, there are better longterm teams out there with contending window already going.

That proves exactly nothing. Typical response. I mean, let's wait and see what happens before idly speculating about other players and what they may or may not do.

Sens fans should be long, long past the "Nothing to see here" route. Your franchise is burning down.

We paid more for McDonagh. Ottawa got less for arguably the best defensman of the modern era.
I don't disagree at all. I think Ottawa did awful job here...It's sad when Francis Perron may be one of the better prospects in the deal...I just think Ottawa and TB became stubborn and the deal ended happening in SJ. It hurt both teams ultimately.

If he stays the Sharks still need to make the Cup final this year for them to get the conditional pick. It's really bad.

What? That's not a condition, that's a condition on a conditional pick. If the Sharks re-sign Karlsson and make the cup finals in 2019, then the Sens get a 2021 1st. If they just re-sign Karlsson, it's a 2021 2nd. If they don't re-sign him, it's nothing.

Again these guys aren't in 2010 forms anymore/won't be longer.

You don't have an elite prospect pool and these deals make sure you won't have one soon.
