Western conference is a bloodbath now. Absolute arms race

Still dont know if I would call SJS favorites

That probably the major thing everyone seems to overlook right now.

Does anybody really believe that a team wouldn't have beaten that offer easily if Karlsson would have been willing to extend with them?

Really?

Thats why Pacioretty got decent value and thats why the EK trade looks like it looks right now...

EK wants to either hit UFA at all costs or simply does not want to extend with any team right now that was in the mix.

This is basically San Jose trading for a rental for now and going all-in...

Thats why this looks like a rental return because it is...

Do you realize that if there is an extension, they get a measly 2nd round pick in addition?

Balcers is crazy skilled, though. And Norris is a very good prospect. Just because they are from San Jose and nobody talks about them means they are bad prospects. Its an okay return for a guy who was going to leave real soon.

No kidding. 24 Year old 2C on a good contract, 1+2nd, and 2 good prospects is nothing to sneeze at.

So it sounds like no team was willing to give up any sort of tier 1 or tier 2 prospects in the deals. Roster Filler, Draft Picks, and Tier 3-5 prospects.

For a rental, it isn't that horrible of a return but the scariest thing for Sens fans imo is...

1) They don't have their 1st
2) They don't have a 1st this year

I honestly think flipped Karlsson for their own 1st would have been a smarter move. At least sucking would pay off.

Poor return, but what I expected at this point. They waited too late and the GMs called their bluff.

So basically Erik Karlsson for Tierney, some spare parts, a first and a second? Yeah, OK...

How does this blockbuster of a trade compare to the Bears trading for Khalil Mack from the Raiders? On a level of "equal to" or way bigger then, or not as big?

Just throwing this out there. But my offer of Bjork, Carlo and a 1st looks like a massive overpayment now

EK and a Cup for a bunch of slugs. The rest of the west should be embarrassed they couldn't do better.
