Its a weird condition. It says karlsson has to play on an eastern team in 18/19, which means this upcoming season (the 2018/2019 season). Sj just has to not trade him there like they did with hoffman. Im reading it as it relates to the hoffman deal, who was traded out east so fast. Im laughing cause dorion should never deal with wilson after that trade.
More chance than Vegas atleast
The Kane pick was lottery protected. So if the Sharks miss the playoffs Ottawa gets the 19 1st and Buffalo the 20. If the Sharks make the playoffs it switches. From what I understand at least.Buffalo has the first no matter what. When Kane signed there, it was bumped to a 1. The question I have is whether or not the pick is still lottery protected now because they can't push it to 2020 because they gave it to Ottawa. I mean, no chance they are a lottery team this year, but I'm just curious.
wait?
they traded Karlsson and they don't have a first round pick this year still?!
What the hell?!
Laughin' it up over here at the lopsided trade and the fact that so many posters said there was no way the Sharks got Karlsson.
what? the NBA has a soft cap. they can basically buy whoever they want. NHL is hard cap thats it. like the NFL. it means GMs have to be GMs. dont blame the teams that are managed well as a golden state BSThe NHL is turning into the NBA. What's the point of a regular season? 5 teams have a shot at the cup.
There's probably something more going on here. It must be common knowledge that Karlsson intends to hit the UFA market or intends to sign with a specific club that won't pay out anything in a trade.
So SJ is essentially paying the equivalent of two 1sts and two 2nds for a player that is all but guaranteed to be a rental. If that's the case, this trade makes a lot more sense, and Ottawa actually does alright.
