Happy for Ottawa fans, Dorion gets a lot of flack but had to work with a limited budget, seems he can spend and mortgage picks now.

Gonna hate to play this team for next 5-6 years as a Panthers fan.

Sens need a top 2/3 RD and to get a legit #1 goalie now?
Possibly buyout Murray or some other bloated deal?

I don’t understand what Chicago is doing. If you’re trying to rebuild then the most important pieces are young stars with potential like Debrincat, Strome and Dach. They should be looking at moving the older players like Kane and Jones.
They might be looking for Bedard

Ottawa now has basically 1.5 years to convince DeBrincat to sign an extension there. I like the gamble, and he can be traded as a rental in 1.5 years if things fall apart to recoup the investment.

Chicago must love some players in the top 10 of this draft cause this really is not much more expensive than what I thought DeBrincat would get as a pure rental in 1.5 years.

Great trade for Ottawa. I have no clue what Chicago is after, unless they have a deal to trade into a top 3 pick.
Why would they want to do that? There isn't much drop-off from 1 - 15 in this draft. There is no clearly elite NHL player available but this looks like a good year to hold a pick in the 5-10 range.

The only way this makes sense from a Chicago perspective is if DeBrincat is dead set on testing UFA.
He may only be looking for a 2 year deal because he wants to reach UFA when the cap has a large increase.

Wow. Nice job Ottawa. Seems cheap for a 40g guy. Thanks for Byram but y’all really figured things out after that trade.

Blackhawks gonna suck this season. Trade Kane at the deadline with 50% retention for value.

Backslide for Bedard?
Dishonor for Connor.
