Epic F1 quali at Monaco (but the race will probably be a snoozefest, such is the Monaco way)

I don't usually watch basketball but what an epic end to the Celtics-Heat game! I tuned in with 3 minutes left and those were fifteen fantastic minutes to watch! :sarcasm: But seriously, what a dramatic finish! There will be a game 7!

As much as the last 2 minutes of an NBA game can be a slog, every so often they work out like tonight with the epic finish. I’ve watched the end of maybe 5 playoff games this year lol, glad that was one

US Open Golf Championship this weekend at the Los Angeles Country Club. It's the first time that a major tournament is being played there and only the second time ever there's a PGA tournament. It's mostly famous by being surrounded by Lionel Ritchie's mansion and being close to Hollywood.

So far:

There's already been 2 holes in 1 at the 15th.
Before today, there was only 1 round of 62 in the last 40 years. There are 2 players who have played 62 today so far.. and some might even beat that.
...
And then you have Phil Mickelson playing in his LIV gear. :help:

Any lucky buggers going? Probably can guess the eventual winner will be though.

Just down the road from the Santa Monica pier!

8 under is way too low for any major.Either they played lights out or it is set up too easy, will have to tune in to see.

I've been watching the MLB recaps on DTMTS. One thing really amazes me, it's the velocity of pitches. It was impressive back in the Expos days, when Nolan Ryan blew 90mph fastballs right by hitters. Today, all pitchers regularly throw over 90 on their fastballs and sliders, 95 is not uncommon and the other day, home-run leader Shohei Ohtani struck out a couple with 100 mph sliders, his change up is 90 mph . The guy is from another planet.

Different era my friend, however Nolie did top over 100 on many occasions. Reportedly up to 105! I was a huge fan!

Today with better measuring equipment , they have both the ball speed on arrival and the escape velocity when it leaves the bat. I think Shohei was 115 on his centre field homerun last week. It's nuts, 60'6" at 95mph = less than a second for the hitter to react.

I still believe it’s the hardest thing to do in sports, hit a major league fastball. All apologies to the boys on the ice, the only sport where you can be an all-star by being successful only 3 out of 10 times

Most of them are looking for one pitch in the perfect location and if they don't get it they walk back to the dugout.
