@rik schau

You're close! :laugh:

My actual job is chasing lazy developer teams around the world with a shitty broom so they keep on track with their deliverables.

I always thought you're were somewhere where "normal" Westerners live, around Perth, but turns out you're way up there in no man's land! Not sure if I can call it your neighborhood, but I do visit Darwin often. Mostly because I spend a lot of time in Kuala Lumpur and "vacation" in Northern Australia. Think I have read somewhere a long time ago that Darwin has the most deadly/dangerous animals/creatures per square mile of anywhere else in the world. Not sure if I remember that correctly, but since that memory was first planted I started going there to BBQ scorpions and spearfish poisonous jellyfish. What fun!

:sarcasm:

@Runner77

I know I'm taking this thread waay off-topic, but are you familiar with this "nice" creature?

When they mass migrate through Northern coast of Australia (don't know where from and to), it's always a great idea to go out for a swim. :sarcasm:

Not sure if this is what the mortality rate is, but some have died from these. Extremely nasty venom in this tiny thing. Hospitalization is a must if you want to survive.

Irukandji syndrome is produced by a small amount of venom and induces excruciating muscle cramps in the arms and legs, severe pain in the back and kidneys, a burning sensation of the skin and face, headaches, nausea, restlessness, sweating, vomiting, an increase in heart rate and blood pressure, and psychological phenomena such as the feeling of impending doom.

So the murderer's row that is MLB's AL East just keeps on giving.

Talk about having it much much more difficult for the Jays even with the expanded playoff system. Last I checked five of top 6 team in the AL were from the division.

WTF kinda competitive balance is that.

Good help is hard to find and even though we've passed on our interests to our very competent heirs,we are still subjected to it with incompetence fraught the world over in daily life from terribly inept individuals. How difficult is it to get a restaurant order correct? '' Hey buddy,when your blinker is on,you're suppose to turn the same way! '' lol. The simple things in life can be so frustrating at times.lol.

If you're willing to go to Darwin,which has a lot of history and appeal,consider going to Exmouth,you can swim year round there unlike the north. Of course depends on what you're liking for in a holiday but the ''stingers'' don't usually make it there.

The Wembanyama NBA draft lottery in a few minutes on TSN. Hoping for a Pistons win but expecting the Spurs to get #1 and likely so does the NBA.

Hopefully the Pistons can at least stay in the top 3 here but I expect them to fall the max and get 5th out of this. :(

Of course is cancelled/postponed, the only thing they could possibly race with are airboats. More importantly, Emergency Services are having A LOT on their hands and diverting them from their main functions to be on standy for racing cars would be terrible optics.

Cinderella story for a golf pro at the PGA — a hole in one without a bounce, straight into the cup. He didn’t win the event but won over a lot of admirers.

Which caused this:

And led to this:

The NFL is adopting the college rule on fair catch kickoffs which has been in effect for the last 5 years or so! This basically takes the kickoff return out of the league. This was always one of the most exciting plays in the game. I do understand the league’s commitment to lessen injuries, but they have handcuffed defense and special teams to the point of making the game almost unwatchable! This has always been a collision sport, all of us that have played it on one level or another always understood that! The game is not so slowly turning into flag football. For this reason I say long live the CFL, more returns, better action, more old school than the NFL! Right now I’d rather watch Irish Hurling over the NFL!

I'm not familiar with the rule change, but we should continue to see leagues like the NFL and NHL continue to make moves to at least show that they are trying to make the sport safer.

It's all in an effort to try and protect themselves from legal liability down the road.

On a related note, is it known whether nfl or nhl players sign some sort of waiver that protects the league from litigation? You would think that the leagues would have something like this in place but you never hear about it.

I do not know if there is any kind of waiver ,probably not. Sounds like a pretty good idea though. You have to sign a waiver to ride a mechanical bull so why not. Everyone seems to be sue crazy anyways.

Montreal
Epic F1 quali at Monaco (but the race will probably be a snoozefest, such is the Monaco way)

I don't usually watch basketball but what an epic end to the Celtics-Heat game! I tuned in with 3 minutes left and those were fifteen fantastic minutes to watch! :sarcasm: But seriously, what a dramatic finish! There will be a game 7!
