Yeah, and some of the sinkers are really embarrassing to watch from the centre field camera. What starts out like a nice belt high pitch, by the time they swing at it, it's almost on the ground. :laugh:M

I truly love baseball, my 1st hero was Mickey Mantle! I do however long for the complete game pitcher. Gibson, Koufax, Marichal, Drysdale! They were all heavy throwers but more importantly they were artists, true matador toeing the rubber! I remember Wilbur Wood one season winning 20 games and losing 24, all with an ERA of under 3! I remember thinking that is a great pitcher to be involved in that many decisions. Talk about saving your bullpen. In those days you could watch Jim Kaat against Vern Ruhle and a full 9 inning game would be over in an hour and a half! True masters, but I always have preferred great pitching over good hitting!

In all the highlights I've been watching, I can recall one game where the starting pitcher finished the game. It was a 2 hit shutout. All others usually call it done after 6 or 7 innings; then the relievers take over and often blows it. It happened with Ohtani not long ago, he strikes out the last two hitters with 100mph heat, and is pulled. His replacement promptly gives up a couple of hit. Infuriating.

This is why you never see 20 game winners anymore! Guy is lights out for 6-7 innings and the bullpen blows it! Just like DeGrom in his heyday with the Mets. A “quality start “ is now considered 6 innings with 3 earned runs. That’s an ERA of 4.50, which years ago was a one-way trip to the Minors! Otani is definitely the gem, both hitting and pitching. The last phenom I would compare himself to was Fernando Valenzuela, sans the hitting!

There's a perfect game near the end in New York. Only 1 inning left.

following the Blue Jays from the outside really gives you a pretty good insight on how Toronto sports fan brain work, it's astonishing

I spent the entire offseason saying bro this won't work they didn't fix pitching at all and they can't just hope it fixes itself, but their brain is hardwired to just believe

I didn't want to be right but here we are

Shohei was starting pitcher last night, he was good, so were his at-bats.

I remember my mrs saying he was going to be a superstar years before he went to MLB,she was right! She really liked baseball and going to see the Giants play,Tokyo Giants that is and even went to a few Expos games. Used to love playing myself, but time moves on. Still get an occasional softball game now and again though.

For all my friends up North who don’t appreciate the CFL, last night’s game between Calgary and the Riders is proof positive that it’s a truly amazing game! Everything in a football game was on parade last night, huge hits, amazing kick returns, long bombs and great comebacks! Brings me back to what the NFL was years ago. I will always be a dedicated fan of the 3 down game ! From a Statee.

More awesomeness from #17 Thursday in Motown. First game of a double header, an easy 2 hit complete game shutout. Second game he got bored so he cleared the fences a couple of times. He's truly the GOAT and nobody even comes close, not even the Babe.

Canada's front office has really killed the vibe of everything good that took place on both the men's and women's side.

Both sides are butting heads with the organization, who signed a crippling deal with a private group, which has seen money funnelled out of the national team's hands in an era where their corporate sponsorship potential was at an all time high.

Aside from that awful deal, there's also been other series of missteps taking place, including a cancelled world cup tune up match for the men against Iran after external political pressures, the men calling off another friendly due to pay issues and their distrust of the Canadian soccer administration, and the women also demanding a more "equitable" compensation relative to the men.

It's the type of stuff you expect from a small budget 3rd world country. The fact that we have this type of poorly run administration for the sport with the biggest world stage.... It's just flat out embarassing, and maddening at the same time.

Am not aware of the circumstances for the Canadian team, regardless, the players deserve to have attention paid to them. Overall it was a rather pathetic and embarrassing performance accumulating in an ass whipping against one of the host teams. I thought that was a bad performance and then my girls made it look so easy against Vietnam,no contest! Might be they expanded to soon:dunno:
