Friedmn is trash if they don't sign Cueto

Don't think it's that black & white, still a number of ways they can address the starting pitching, but Cueto has no compensation (outside of money) tied to him, as others do. Which Friedman has said is a priority, valuing young players and draft picks.

Fan Appreciation Day in St. Louis. Just move already.

And yes, I'm aware the crowd is lean because they are sending a message.

best pic in this thread in several months. Thx Ron!

although it does look like today's pic is from pre-game. But in highlights on redzone today, early in the 4th qtr, the top deck was less than 10% full.

I loved the Rams' old blue and white, but they got into the custom of wearing their white uniforms at home after the mid- to late-'60s (pic below).

Interesting tidbit of why the Rams went from blue and yellow in the '50s to blue and white in the '60s: I read it somewhere or heard on TV they thought that dark blue and white would look much better on black and white TVs that predominated households during that time.

Makes sense.

They went to the blue and gold in 1973, as I recall, when the swing to color TVs were predominating households...and those sucked when compared to blue and white, in my opinion.

I cannot believe the final score in Denver is 15-12, Raiders.

That is not what the ********* Bronco "fans" looked like, atleast not in Orange County where they made up by far the most annoying of the fanbases that would watch games at the bars. They would roll into the sports bars for those 1PM games and you would immediately see the bartender stock up on mint and sliced pineapples for all the mojitos and mai-tai's the guys would order. And who cares if one of the early games was coming down to the final drive, they wanted all those TV's with sound turned to the Broncos.

To this day, I still have no idea how so many people with no connection to Denver whatsoever became Broncos fans.

My old HS head techie, back in her Cal Poly Pomona days, became a Denver Broncos fan. Those were the days when the Denver Broncos used to have their off-season camp, to the point her husband treated her to a meet-and-greet with John Elway.

And guess Cal Poly Pomona's mascot? Yup.

Replace Denver with New York and Broncos with Yankees

You are probably too young to remember what happened in 1977.

The Broncos were the most pathetic professional football team for the first 15 years of its existence, from 1960 to 1975. They hired a new coach in 1976 as I recall, and he took the team to their first winning record (either ever, or second, can't remember). EDIT: Looking at the Wiki page linked below, the first winning record was in 1972; the team showed an upsurge under John Ralston in the early and mid-70s, then hired Red Miller and the team took off after him in 1977.

Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, jumped onto the Denver bandwagon in 1977. They had the "Orange Crush" campaign going full-swing, and we were all watching this **** team for so long become a powerhouse. They were no match for Dallas in the Super Bowl, but they were clearly the best team in the AFC that season.

You couldn't find Denver gear anywhere. I went to some sports shop that season and asked for a Denver pennant; there weren't any. Everything got sold out.

If current fans don't have a geographical or family connection to Denver, I suspect what happened in 1977 to be the source of the widespread fandom, handed down to the succeeding generations. It was pretty crazy back then...I think Denver may have been the last team of its era to finally dig its way out of the cellar.

You may recall that Tampa Bay in 2003 and New Orleans in 2010 had similar bandwagon movements, but never to the extent that Denver had in 1977.

Those blue and white helmets are beautiful.

Simple really is best. You can see from the photos that opposing teams like the Eagles and Lions also had simple uniforms and helmets; I have no idea where people actually dig the **** that is the Seahawks uniforms or any of the other crap teams out there (Tampa Bay, etc.).

Today, the only remnants you see from that era are Dallas, Green Bay, etc. Nice, simple colors and themes. Can't match the 1960s for the best uniforms and helmets ever in the NFL/AFL.
