I don't have any problems with Chubb and Von Miller no longer being on this team........This team's been able to find OLB's fairly easily. They always pump the mike on how they need pass rushers but they've been able to develop guys at those positions rather easily.

I'd much rather have them spend draft capital and money into the OL and QB positions. Keeping the status quo of always trying to find generational defensive players and signing WR's to huge extensions really isn't working. The formula/blueprint the Broncos have been using in their salary cap / draft capital expenditures is broke and someone really needs to step in and redefine it.

Hold up, Justin Fields is not the answer? I'd rather a guy that can do something positive like Fields can with his legs as opposed to doing nothing positive like Wilson.

I also think it's become obvious over the last several years that if you can't threaten with your legs as a QB, outside of a select few outliers - you aren't going to be successful. Russ does not fall into the category of outliers.

I mean there have been 2 of the bigger upsets in some
time during this World Cup. And todays games have been 3-3 and 3-2(still to be finished). I get that people find the sport boring but the difference between goals scored in soccer and hockey aren‘t that far off.
I have seen 0-0 hockey games that were plenty exciting. Up and down the ice action, hitting, lots of shots on net, goalies robbing goals, standing on their heads saving 40 shots, etc.

USA vs England.....90 minutes and FOUR shots on goal, COMBINED.

Those games were immediately followed by two more shutouts. Let up a single goal, you can't win the game. In over 50% of the games.

I get that people find the sport boring but the difference between goals scored in soccer and hockey aren‘t that far off.

Are you sure? Since 1998, the average gpg in world cup soccer matches is 2.51.

This season in the NHL, the gpg average is over 3. Per team.

Unless my old man brain can't read stats correctly. :D

Maaaaaaan the knives for Russ are out in force now. Before all the hate was being directed at Hackett. Not anymore.
I have seen some blogs state that's why you don't fire Hackett until the end of the season.

I agree with the Seahawks fan perspective on this. Russ has to change his game and a suitable coach for him should help. Let's be honest Hackett is here because they wanted Rodgers to come. Hacketts problem is he acted like everyone could just follow his philosophy and execute a new offense overnight. He and Kubiak still aren't really running wide zone and WCO concepts that much but all I hear is sort of the players can't do it so we don't run it excuses. Then again when everyone is hurt there isn't much to be learned anyways, many of these starters now won't be playing here next year and seems the coaches won't be either.

This might take years but with the right coach and philosophy I could see Russ being a top 10 QB again. Agreed he could tone down the personality and see how guys like the Mannings and Brees became more likable by making a little fun of themselves and what shortcomings they had.

I mean do you really want 2 DE's who can't stay healthy making 22 and 16mil a year
In an ideal world the answer is no, but this furthers the Paton sucks position.

Gregory at 16M was the mistake, had we not signed him, and his injured ass, Chubb would have been fine. And 16M could be used elsewhere.

Paton is just a comedy of errors. Each one compounds another one. Completely in over his head and has no clue. It just keeps getting worse.

I mean we got a cheaper player that's equally as good as Chubb and has the same issues. Idk there's plenty of stuff to be upset with Paton about but the Chubb trade seems to be one that I kind of think is actually not that bad or big a deal.

The deal itself was fine. It's more the why the deal happened that bothers me.

Ideally we should have never signed Gregory, then played it by ear with Chubb see how the season progressed before making a choice.

But Wilson being dog shit and costing us multiple 1sts and other picks and Gregory being signed basically forced Paton to try and find a 1st, and Chubb was his best bet.

Paton had to start getting draft capital back to try and save his ass.

I mean before the season everyone was kind of ready to move on from Chubb? We already saw the Broncos re sign Bolles after a good season in his contract year. Chances are Chubb would end up similarly.

Russ best case is that he does th following:
Lose some weight. Added muscle to absorb hits but lost some mobility. He needs to be more mobile.
New scheme that uses what he did well in seattle
Check his ego. Eat the humble pie and get focussed on the team over individual praise.
Realistically, I think Denver should hope for a tier 2 QBs play out of Russ. Like below that of the burrows, Herberts, Jackson, Allen, Mahomes and what Rodgers and Brady were a year or so ago.

All of these things though are what drove Russ out of Seattle in the first place……..He didn’t want to do any of them and so they traded him.

This made me laugh this morning :

New ownership may not like losing, but they’re not stupid. If for nothing else, keeping Hackett on the sideline with headphones on, that may or may not be connected to anything, will protect Wilson from the fans, at least until next year.

I love the idea of seeing the 3.5mm headphone jack just dangling in the air...

See if this is a wake up call to Russ and his ego…. If it is not the broncos are doomed until they cut bait on him.

Out of curiosity, any chance this season actually costs Paton his job? I have no idea how often NFL GMs get the can; do they have more longevity and rope than their NHL counterparts?

I would say that there is a real possibility that the new ownership could completely clean house. The people in place now were not chosen by them, and this horrible season might be all the proof they need to make changes.

Easily the best Slovenian player in the NBA, can't think of anyone else from that country. Heard there's a player in Dallas but I doubt he's better than Cancarizard

LOL @ anyone that thinks AG trade/contract was bad. He's been so good this year

Because of new ownership I'd guess they might think cleaning house is the way to go from the top down. Paton/Hackett are in real danger IMO because of how off-the-rails this season has gone.
