Once upon a time Trevor Siemian threw for 3,401 yards and 18 TDs in two less games than Russ' current pace.

The accelerated cap hit guarantees he's around until end of 2024 and even then its a $50m cap hit so probably as mentioned he's the QB until end of 2025. Right now cutting him would be a $124m cap hit or half the cap. I don't think you can field a team with that and yes that applies even if he's traded.

Just time to take the L on this season and find a coach and system that can use him whether fans like him or not.

More about his line which is an utter disaster at both tackles. Add in the Chubb trade and Gregory not being out there and they are getting destroyed in the trenches on both sides of the ball.

I don't get this line of thinking. Everyone wanted a QB in the worst way and he went and got the best one he could and virtually everyone was either thrilled or at least agreed it filled the need. If you fire the guy for getting what everyone wanted because said player had a bad first season who exactly do you think will want to be part of this team? If you are a proven GM you are going to avoid the team like it's infected. Paton made a move at QB because no one wanted Teddy back. People would have been up in arms if he went and got someone like Geno Smith. He did what everyone was demanding and that extension was pretty much a given as well considering the deal they made. If he gets fired for that the whole league is going to say stay the hell away from that place for years.
