Bolles is now out for the year it sounds like......So whatever Russ wanted, it's out the window now.....He'll be running for his life for the rest of the year, which is probably a good thing.
After Bolles went out the O-line play did not diminish, in fact they ran the ball better afterwards.

But Newhook isn't as good as center as Cushenberry. (Obligatory hockey content.)

Denver maybe was as turnkey as TB was but TB didn’t trade assets to get Brady. If Denver can keep their picks and add Cross at OT and whomever else in round 2 that’s a different roster. But when you trade for a guy and you still have some holes it’s another story.

Not really. We're stuck with Russ now. 165M guaranteed. Hackett, not so much.
People can complain about signing Russ but for sure that was a condition of him waiving his ntc to go to Denver.

He needs to play better simple as that.

Not sure if you mean this as a joke or not but it's actually a valid question. I've never seen a coach this in over his head as Hackett. He's not even close. He can't even show up to his pressers on time.
Are the broncos banking on either a veteran former HC like Dom Capers to step into the role or one of the inexperienced coordinators to do it? That’s the option after firing Hackett. Rooney rule applies during in season outside hires. So need an in house person for the rest of the season.

No joke, he has been completely awful. He's over his head, his playbook is hot garbage, and I really don't know why you would keep him around seeing as how we have no 1st or 2nd round pick this year.

That's not letting Russ off the hook either, he's been just as bad, if not worse, than Hackett. However, we're stuck with him now. Might as well try to bring someone in that can try and get something out of him because whatever relationship he has with Hackett, it's not working at all.

who are you going to get that’s gonna come in here and want to take over this mess? No picks next year, your best defensive player and about 3-4 of your top offensive players are out for the year. You’re going to London in a couple weeks. You got a new owner that’s still trying to figure out things and a GM that is probably starting to get questioned a bit. Denver‘s not a place that’s really set up for immediate success right now. i can’t see someone waltzing in here and ripping off 3-4 straight wins. The bed‘s been made for this season already.

I would imagine that they could find a few guys that would jump at the challenge. Getting a head coaching job is not something you turn down that often, unless your the cream of the crop and can pick your spot. Let's put it this way though, I doubt that anyone out there could have a worse connection than Russ and Hackett. They just are not clicking at all. Maybe Hackett needs Aaron Rogers to be successful.

Whoever it is they have to better.
So you have no options at this point.

Any external person that Denver brings in as the HC they still have to comply with the Rooney rule interviews. So they need to meet with a few people.

Only with internal people they don’t need to comply with the Rooney rule.

That basically limits them to someone on their staff given the timing needed to comply with the nfl rules.

Honestly there will be better candidates at the end of the year vs in season……I’m not even sure you can interview other NFL teams assistants mid-season? And if ownership is gonna dump Paton then you may as well bring in coach/GM together during the off-season. It just doesn’t make really any logistical sense to fire a guy after 5 games. As inexperienced as the staff is, they don’t even have someone they could really make interim coach until they hired someone new. The offensive and defensive coordinators are only 5 games experienced. It’s just a mess. I don’t think anyone expected it to be this bad - I thought Hackett was gonna be a great hire.

Madden ‘23 play suggestions.

Hell Herm Edwards is looking for work. I know he’s awful but he would be a trade up.

Anyway the new guy won’t have much pressur, no one expecting much after this train wreck and if you manage to rally you look great.

Hate to admit it but i would be over the moon if the team hired Rich Bisaccia. That dude got such a raw deal in Vegas and already has turned around Green Bay’s special teams. Plus he’d come in with a major chip on his shoulder to cream the Raiders ever year. The last guy to come in with a huge grudge against the Raiders did pretty well.

It does for Paton. If he gives Seattle a top 5 pick, plus a high 2nd as well, while were stuck with a cooked QB and a worse record than Fangio's team, it's pretty much his ass on the line. Not only will he be fired here, but good luck interviewing for other GM jobs with that hanging over your head.

If the Colts fire Frank Reich I'd take him. He's got enough basic job competence to get the offense up to mediocrity.

We also heard this "Who can you find that's better?" nonsense about keeping McDaniels. At a certain point it becomes so cancerous you have no choice but to bite the bullet. The exodus from the stands before OT had the feel of all the no shows for McDaniels' last game.
