the NFL has apparently changed the rules and allow for assistant coach interviews starting in the last two weeks of the season, so I definitely think ya should fire Hackett before weeks 13/14. Bringing in someone for weeks 6-13 though is pretty weird unless you’re bringing in the ultimate solution, so your new Denver Broncos coach is Herm Edwards, Urban Meyer, or Jim Caldwell? I’m a hard pass on every single one of those.

It's about not giving the Seahawks a top pick.

There are five teams that are 5-0 or 4-1.

Three of them are in the NFC East. Who’d have thunk it?

Never been a fan of Wilson. It's looking more and more with each passing week that he was a product of Pete Carroll through and through.

I mean look at Geno Smith reviving his career under Carroll. Unreal.
Yeah we traded for the wrong dude. Should have given up the picks for the 71 year old dude instead of "Lets Ride"

I hate Brady with a white hot passion, but Brown really seems like he has some serious mental health issues.
I hate him a lot as well.

So a 'controversial' roughing the passer late game call goes brady's way??? I'm absolutely SHOCKED!!! :sarcasm: How many times does it go against him? Does it EVER??? It's a f***in' joke at this point.

It would be like letting Wayne Gretzky play until he's 50 even though he can't skate or keep up but no one can touch him or get near him. Pathetic.

Panthers fired their coach today after going 1-4. Have to think that Hackett is next if (when) we lose to the Chargers next game.

Question is, would we trade an asset for Sean Payton? Would he want to come in 5 games into the season?

Broncos are in literally the worst spot possible right now. They could fire Hackett, but all the assistants are newbies so there’s no guarantee it gets better with them.

I don’t think you’ll get a long term guy mid season.

Or do you spend what little organizational depth you have left on a guy like Peyton?

If you're going down, this is the only way to salvage things. Otherwise Seattle is getting a top-5 pick.

I mean they’re probably getting a top 5 pick even if Peyton gets brought in.
Sunk cost.

The important thing is getting Wilson back on track.

Panthers fired their coach after going 11-27. He was there for two previous seasons. A coach getting fired after only 6 games in their entire tenure is very, very rare. Maybe Walton has zero patience and since Hackett was not hired under his watch it can happen. 🤷‍♂️

I think this is a bit of a hot take on Wilson. If anything Hackett needs to taylor the offense more around Wilson’s skills. The dude has skills.

Wilson is refusing to do what made him so great in Seattle, though. He's not moving anymore. Wilson has never been a pocket QB.

Whether it's Hackett telling him to stay in the pocket and trying to turn him into Aaron Rodgers or if Wilson has said he doesn't want to be the uber-scrambly QB anymore, something has to give here because the Broncos are horrible right now and I reckon they'd have the exact same record if not better with Teddy/Drew under centre at this moment.

Yeah, I agree it’s a bad product to watch.

I also agree Wilson needs to scramble/get out of the pocket more.

I think it’s on Hackett though. He has this offense designed for another type of quarterback. When it’s obvious the gameplane hasn’t worked well and it’s at the end of the game, he opens up the playbook and Wilson shines. Why he doesn’t open up the playbook earlier in the game I don’t know. He needs to get more creative, imo.

It might be a mute point, though, with all of the injuries. I don’t see us being able to work through the injuries if you throw in everything else we are having to work through (ie. New management, coach and quarterback).

Hopefully they can work it out by next season.

Well, for starters, as Mina Kimes of ESPN pointed out, this offense is not built around the WRs (which in hindsight might be a good thing) but the TEs. But...who the hell are the tight ends on this team!? They literally took the best one and used him in a trade, leaving...Albert Okuegnubam? I literally can't remember the other guy's name.

Like, if you're gonna do that, then you probably need better TEs.

Russ has been bad, no sugarcoating that, but Hackett is on another level of incompetence. And you can tell the dude is panicky and indecisive. This experiment should go no further. Get an interim guy in there who at least knows SOMETHING about running a football team.

Having a ten year run of watching a coach refuse to tailor his offense around his QB, it makes a difference.

It’s frustrating, that’s for sure. I think people are spoiled because of Pat Bowlen.

Even though we paid an arm and a leg for Wilson, it would have been catching lightning in a bottle to have everything line up at the get go.

There’s definitely a disconnect between Hackett’s scheme and Wilson’s talents, though.

Yeah, I’m definitely having flashbacks to Dan Reeves.

And of course the Raiders game was when he was at his most mobile/scrambly and actually looked half decent.
