I bet they trade for a busted prospect. Howell probably impressed them, if they can get him for a day 3 pick it would make sense to have him compete with or backup Stidham. I don't think Fields makes sense although I could see conservative Payton wanting a running QB more than other teams.

Probably will draft a QB at some point but so many areas they need to shore up in the draft. The OL pool looks deep, really need a long term OT solution hopefully to replace McGlinchey in a year when his cut cost goes down.
My best guess would be a Fields trade. Chicago probably wants Williams with that #1 pick.

Honestly wouldn't be a bad trade for like a 4th round pick. Fields has actually had an ok year with signs of improvement.

Idgaf. Stidham sucks, so does Russ. Last week was the playoffs and they blew it against a dog shit Patriots team.

A wildcard game would have been fun to watch, but this team doesn't have it. Might as well try to piss Russ off and cost him whatever money you can.

honestly man I could see it happening if we weren't so damn hard up for draft picks. Maybe we can sell the Saints on giving us Taysom for Jeudy + a lifetime supply of stickum.
I don't think they can afford Hills contract. Going to have to be someone on a rookie deal, preferably non first rounder. Why I could see Howell

Swapping Russ for another low tier quarterback won't make a difference. We have an idiot for a coach and a bigger idiot for a GM.

How does it work in the NFL? If a team picks him up are the Broncos still on the book?
Yeah. They are.

more to this - if Russ played and got injured the team would be on the hook to pay him. So benching him protects them financially as well.

If Wilson suffers a serious injury, the Broncos are responsible for his $37 million salary before it becomes fully guaranteed in March 2024. That money is currently guaranteed for injury only, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo. Benching Wilson gives Denver financial flexibility and protection.

I think it's going to be an ugly next two seasons for Broncos fans. Ownership needs to own their mistake in signing Russ to that extension before him even playing a game here. Draft a QB at 12-14, go get Trevor Simien and see what Payton can do with him. Do what you can to bolster the o line. Draft in the top 10 next season as well

Everyone who wanted Russ gone is in for a rude awakening. Trevor ****ing Simien? Lol. Unless they give up major draft capital to move up the next season won’t be pretty.

Siemien always seemed like a game manager to me, zero flashy. I don't want Russ gone but I think they need to own up to that major lapse.

I don't see it being that ugly, all the cap charges do is limit their ability to sign free agents and extend the few good players they have on rookie or cheap deals. They probably had no interest in extending Jerry and they can play the tag game with Williams and Bonito. McMillian is probably the only guy that might be a squeeze to sign but that's a few years off.

They might lose something from the QB for next year but it's not like its dropping from the heights of the NFL. They probably won't say it but the cap going up so much next year and the year after has probably convinced them they can absorb this hit. I mean think about it, they are going to pay Wilson $120m for a deal in which he won't play a down for them. But it's all a sunk cost, mostly paid in a signing bonus already. Im sure the competitor in Russ will get him back onto an NFL field but seriously he should just say screw it and go into the booth. The extra hits and pounding aren't worth the smaller deals he might sign.
