Tim Connelly officially jumping to Minnesota. Definitely a gut-punch for the Nugs. Despite their unfathomable wealth, KSE continues to make its Denver operations look pretty cheap.

They're good paying the players, they just don't seem overtly interested investing big $$$ in any other aspect of the organization(s) they run.

I guess the Kronks were willing to match the money, but the TWolves gave Connelly an ownership stake, which I get not matching.

Call me unconvinced on the Connelly stuff. He's above average, maybe. Yeah he's got some nice picks that worked out. But if you really think he saw what Jokic would be today when he drafted him you just got to be kidding. That is called pure unadulterated luck in getting him to fall to the Nuggets and then develop into the MVP. Since then he's made some good moves and some bad moves, some good trades and some bad trades. Drafting MPJ was a nice pickup, but the injury risks he posed have clearly played out as documented. And then most contract offers really aren't that up to him, NBA deals for key players are pretty formulaic including the one I still expect Jokic to sign.

The only argument I can see where it is a problem for the Nuggets is the idea that maybe he could get some veterans to sign at minimum-type deals. Maybe. I happen to think the players are results driven and most would consider Denver no matter its shortcomings to play on this team right now. Players want to play with other winning players, the lack of a training facility and any perception issues of Denver compared to a glamor market are just not that big of a deal right now. Nuggets get on plenty of national TV games so its not like they are invisible.

So paying up for him seems a bit rash to me and getting equity ownership is going to be a hard no for most franchises, not just this one. Look at it as a desperation move by the Wolves who just can't do shit right no matter how many young talents they bring in. They have to do the proverbial overpay here and it really brings no assurances of winning. TC might be able to clean up the roster around the stars a bit, but its far from guaranteed. As for the Nuggets, these claims that Kroenke is just being cheap look pretty hollow when you see the tax he's going to pay for a number of years to come here for a team that the market still doesn't even really support that well. In the meantime they will get a young talent that has been raised on the Moneyball game and know the limitations of the market, but also be in a spot where really not a whole lot of key decisions are to be made for a number of years to come.

Wait, Josh McDaniels is the new Raider’s head coach? How did I miss this?

Then put some players around him that can help him out! No more of this JaMychal Green, Jeff Green, Will Barton, Bryn Forbes, etc. Bull shit! Get real players!!! So even if Murray, or someone else goes down, it isn't Jokic playing 1 v 5 against the opposing team.

I said it at the time, but don’t think they should have let Masai Ujiri leave.

We'll see what happens. Connelly made some brilliant moves, but he also made some mistakes. I still say the major investment in MPJ is a very bad gamble.
And coming in 2nd on the bad move list is trading a 1st for Jerami Grant, who had no intention of re-signing with us. That's our 1st this year that is going to OKC for nothing, and also the reason we couldn't make any moves at the deadline.

Oh, I didn't realize that. I actually liked Grant a lot but I wasn't aware that was the price for getting him. Turns out a long-term deal would've been a mistake.

Bottom line, the team needs more defense and they DESPERATELY need better shooting. Connelly hasn't really been able to address both in any meaningful way. The best he's done so far is Gordon, who, while a very good fit, isn't enough.
