I’m thinking the Sox will settle for a Colas/Sheets/Hamilton platoon in RF, maybe Garcia gets a few games there as well.

Still need a competent 2B. Segura?

I thought Dansby was going to get 8/200+ so for the Cubs to get him for 7/177, is perfectly fine with me.

Bruce Levine sounds confident that Conforto will be the next sign (though he tried to walk it back). So who knows.

Wouldn’t mind a 1-2 year deal for Conforto.

The thing about Chicago sports is this... that fact that we've had as long of tenures of just utterly bad teams across the board (with admittedly notable bright spots) is pretty telling when you look at what divisions our teams are in.

I'm sure Minneapolis is lovely, and St. Louis is definitely a passionate baseball town. But for decades, it's Chicago versus mostly a bunch of mid- to small-markets and, more often than not, falling short to those much smaller markets for years on end.

Every team in every division of our's should be able to easily financially flex their muscles and dunk on much smaller markets in FA attraction and retention and facilities and amenities spending compared to our immediate rivals.

I'm just sick of small market financial attitudes that owners tend to have to nickle and dime their way through life. White Sox bad marketing and market focus aside, even they should be able to easily outrun the Kansas Citys, Detroits, and Minnesotas of the world with regularity, and so is the case even more so with the Cubs and their much broader and widespread fanbase (with really only St. Louis being comparable). And that's doubly true for our teams that have a monopoly on their sport in this market. Bulls, Blackhawks, and especially Bears should be blowing their divisions out of the water with regular consistency.

Enough with the crap, if even halfway intelligently run every team here can more or less print their own money. The mindset that prolonged periods of being mediocre or crap is acceptable is small-market nonsense or indicative of utterly incompetent ownership and management.

Well said

Was swamped at work all day and missed the Illini news that we inked Bielema to a six-year extension.

Even knowing that no contract is escape-proof, damn glad to lock him down. Just hope he gets a good replacement for Walters.
