“The fact this cubs team won as many games as it did in the second half is a credit to the players and to the staff.”

What happened to Madrigal?

He was looking like an MLB-ready every day starting 2B for the Sox to start the 2021 season before the injury.

Truth be told, I wasn't really buying the Sox back in spring, but then again a lot of that had to do with La Russa.
Imagine if instead of Quenville the Hawks hired Scotty Bowman to be their manager. It seemed that ridiculous to me when I heard the news and it felt like all the air got let out of the Sox tires immediately after

not sure. he kinda sucks.

Nicky has been disappointing. I wouldn't write him off just yet, though. He's been injury plagued the last 1.5 seasons. I guess we'll see if he can move past them next year or not.

This is a very happy day for me and for all Ottawa Redblacks (CFL) fans ...the team after gping 3-11 in 14 GP so far this season with 4 games remaining after going 3-11in a 14 game schedu in 2021 (shortened by Covidcrestrictions) and having lost all 7 home games this season and only 1 hone win over last 22 home games ,FiNALLY fired our head coach responsible for only 6 wins in ladt 28 games he has served as head coach of the team....

Amazing guy the team IF they win all 4 remaining games has a mathematical chance of making g the playoffs ...but tgatvis not likely.

The last 2 losses were blowouts ...at home then last night in Vancouver agaibst the B.C.Lions..

Losses at tge beginning of this sessonwre close in most of them but recently the team has not been that close as the offense sputters like it has all season and the defense seemed to get worse as it realized the offense could only settle for field goals and failing too often when it did manage to get to the red zone...

The fact the head coach was Also his own offensive co-ordinator never worked out during his tenure...He made gross head coaching errors...lost too many challenges...mis'?managed tge clock and his schemes seemed vanilla and conservative as if okayibg not to lose instead of going for it more and being bold.He oozed losing...and I think this showed in his pkayers finally not giving a fig to play hard for hom.

He was brought in (by our previous GM because of a reputation as an offensive guru ...but the fact is I coukd havecdrsigned better plays and schemes than what he put out there ..He seemed to always blame his pkayers for not executing insteadvof taking blame for hos poir schemes and head coaching errors which inslnevof the close games cost tgecteam wins.

Yes..we did lose our starting QB this sesdon to injury and the replacements we has instead coukd not generate enough wins...But otget teams in the league made adjustments when tgeir qbs got injured and still managed more wins than we could .

We coukdcalk sec no read to victory with such a lousy coach...no doubt great person.. but foitball is a win business...too bad we did not fore hom after opening tge season 0-4 rightcafterctgec4th loss...we might have turned the season around...now tgere is hardly tome.

Will it mKe any difference for tgec4 remaining i g goes...probably not...but tgere comes a point where management if it wants any fans to renew season tickets for next sesdon just coukd not stomache keeping such head coaching incompetence on any lo get.
So we probably gove 1 of the assistant coaches an I interim head coach promotion the last 4 games then start interviewing new head coach candidates once tfe sesson mercifully ends.

Anyway tge famsxwere clamoring for firi g him and management finally came to tgeircsenses and realized this guy was incapable of producing anything close to winning g football

So for me thus is a very haply day! HOPE is back on again.

Hes a sub par defender and a horrible baserunner. If hes not rockin a ~.360+ OBP hes not worth a roster spot
But he's never healthy, is my point. He's played in 142 games in three seasons and a little more than 500 PA. Chances are you are correct but I want to see what he can do when he is...actually, you know healthy.
---------

Congrats WS fans, it sounds like La Russa is calling it a career. Thank goodness.

Wonder if Sox bring back Cueto or if he will want too much $ of term

I wouldn't offer him more than 1 yr deal but I am sure his season will have a team willing to give him a multi-year deal as FA

Rotation for next year

Cease
Lynn
Kopach
Giolito
?

If it's not Cueto you need to find a reliable #5 option. I don't think Davis is good enough to be the guy in #5 spot as I just don't see much upside there

Giolito you dont know what you will get, and Kopech's health is still an issue. You might only have 2 good starters out of that list. That's a dangerous rotation, especially with the Sox not having any impact starters knocking on the door from the system. I would say they need to bring someone in that projects as a #3 at least. Then you can hope Giolito and Kopech can manage to fill 4/5 and if Davis needs to step up, then so be it.

When is Crochett supposed to be ready to return? And is there any chance he joins the starting rotation when ready?

National media is spending a lot of time on a guy hitting the seventh most home runs in a season.

Also, I will laugh mightily if Judge turns out to be a powerhitting version of Braun after how much this has been hyped as an allegedly clean record.

As will I.

My attitude is assume all athletes are secretly buttholes and just celebrate the on-field/ice accomplishments unless they pull some heinous shit in real life.

Bonds is a douche, but 73 is the record (plus he’s easily a top five player in history, and that’s downplaying his historical status) and Sosa had the most dominant stretch of power hitting in MLB history.

Sosa hit 60 3 times, crazy.

Bonds I’ll buy because he would have been a hof without steroid, although his 73 is tainted.. Soda was a pure creation of steroids. I consider his monster seasons as if they never happened.

He's a Yankee so it will be front page news for days. They have to do something before they choke in the playoffs again.
