Which brings up an interesting question. What team could pay Soto a half bil and still field a competitive team around that contract? I think the Dodgers are out since they have that Mookie Betts deal on the books. Maybe the Yankees if Aaron Judge walks? Maybe the Red Sox? The potential suitors at that price are very slim.

Mets certainlty could and have history of throwing huge $ at FA's

As boring and predictable as it would be, I'd bet on the Yankees, Sox, or Giants getting him and locking him up longterm.

I could see the Mets doing it with their new ownership. The Wilson days are over.

Lance Lynn hasnt sucked long enough to DFA. And youre paying him 18.5 mil next year, no matter which way you go. Worse case scenario, shut his ass down and let him try for next year. The dropoff has been pretty sudden for him, considering he was a Cy Young candidate last year.

How long is long enough? He sucked the entire 2nd half of 2021, sucked in the playoffs, and has sucked here again so far in 2022. He’s been bad for an entire year. I’ve seen enough.

Imagine being the loser all star pickers and putting the far inferior mustache, nestor cortes, on the team over cease.

It’s a joke that Cease isn’t an Allstar.

Just statistically speaking it’s one of the most unbelievable all-star omissions I’ve ever seen, in any sport. He’s having a historic season on the mound.

The Sox we saw these past 5-6 games are the Sox we’ve been waiting to see all this time. FINALLY a glimpse of our true potential, and it gets us much closer in the standings too.

Sox have the easiest remaining SOS in all MLB.

3 keys to making a run at a WS championship here in 2022:

- get Giolito, Lynn, and Kopech to find their form and stabilize what could become a dominant 5 man rotation.

- use the TDL to add some depth to the bullpen, including at least one more lefty.

- get Eloy, Robert, Grandal, and Moncada fully healthy, and have them stay that way. Of course you want the team in general to avoid further injury, but those 4 in particular need to be available more often.

Kopech's knee is f***ed. They need to sit him and get him healthy. Would be smart to try to get a starter at the deadline, but probably dont have the assets.

Kopech is playing through an injury? I had no idea…

Is it just speculation or has it been made official?

I agree we should add a starter too just incase. We definitely have the assets if you include Sheets and Burger. Also lots of hype recently around Montgomery who’s moving up the prospect rankings.

Happened a few weeks ago. Allegedly no structural damage, but hes been noticeably different since.

The cubs are going to suck for years to come with this ownership so unsure of why they took the best college arm when where they were they were around all the HS prospects.
