Giolito and now Lynns struggles this year have really hurt club

And yeah, Lance Lynn. Man, from sucking in the playoffs last year to this. He's our new Dallas Keuchel, just without the bad attitude. And we have him for one more wonderful year at 18.5 mil.Giolito and now Lynns struggles this year have really hurt club

Losing harper and soto in a 4 year span? Really makes washington look bad.
And the Sox need to stay away from any Soto talks with a ten foot pole. Luckily they dont have enough assets to pull off any such deal.I see no reason for Soto who is so young and has many great years ahead of him to handcuff himself to Nats long-term
The team is not in good shape going forward and will take time to rebuild
For Nats moving him now when he still has several years of control before FA would probably be best thing to do as they can get a great package for him and begin effort to rebuild
They probably will get a few quality prospects when they move Bell in a couple weeks given how he has rebounded in Washington and the season he is having
Ownership will need to eat most of that Corbin contract if they want to move on from that mess. Cant believe how awful Corbin has been these recent years
Lance Lynn hasnt sucked long enough to DFA. And youre paying him 18.5 mil next year, no matter which way you go. Worse case scenario, shut his ass down and let him try for next year. The dropoff has been pretty sudden for him, considering he was a Cy Young candidate last year.Lance Keuchel needs to go. He’s done. Doesn’t belong in the MLB anymore. He’s only gonna get worse if we keep him in the rotation. Sox have no room for error and can’t afford an automatic loss in the rotation every 5 games. Old, fat, out of shape Lance on a bum leg = time for DFA. Sadly I doubt that happens, and we’re basically stuck. It’s KILLING our rotation.
I dont think Gavin Shields moves many needles. Every team has one dimensional tweeners like him. But Greinke probably isn't all that valuable, so who knows. Probably would take a bit more though.I would say shut down Lynn for rest of year should be option
Hope he comes back next year better but can't rely on him as anything more than #5
Look for a mid-level SP on trade market and offer up Sheets for him. Someone who doesn't do much but can eat innings and won't kill you most nights and has no long-term commitment
Think the Royals would trade Grienke for Sheets? Would Grienke be willing to finish year out in Chicago?
Santana and Perez are looking for their age so Sheets could slot in regularly at 1B/DH for Royals and provide them with power once he is consistently in lineup
Maybe part of a final playoff push would be enticing to Grienke and while he is not same guy, he once was he would be improvement over Lynn for rest of year and we have no one in system we can hand ball to for final few months that can at all potentially be effective
I'm not going to defend Moncada right now, - because he has been a big disappointment. But Burger's defense at 3B is not acceptable. He is not an option longterm for anything other than DH. And we have enough of them - though none of them are great, They should of signed Schwarber last winter like I wanted.Think anyone would still be fooled by Moncada to take him off Sox hands?
Burger has been better player this year anyway and if anyone is still foolish to believe in Moncada then the Sox need to pull trigger and move on ASAP

Of course the offer is serious. He would make more than Mike freakin Trout makes if he signed it. What his rejection of it tells me, is that Juan Soto probably wants to leave Washington D.C. Who knows what his reasons are. It may or may not have anything to do with the Nats.

It's insane how much of the Sox payroll is tied up in bad players and contracts.
Ok...but when you sign these crazy ass long term deals, it's pretty much all about total guaranteed dollars. Which would be more than Mike Trout got. That’s not entirely true. He’d be making $6M less per year than Trout.

Who replaces Lynn in the lineup?
Looking at his numbers this year, $440 mil is way more than I'd want/expect my team to pay him. He is an on base machine and will probably hit 30+ HR's. So he's a great player. But my God, are we losing sight of how much money $440 million is?That's not a fair comparison because Trout's deal pays him out pretty evenly over the course of it where this offer to Soto was "heavily backloaded" per reports. Would be curious to see those specifics.
Still seems like a poor offer to me that never had a chance of being accepted, especially when he's made it clear he wants $500M. They really going to potentially lose him over $4M/year over a 15 year deal?
This is more of the Sox failures with drafting and developing. Norge Vera might be fantastic in a couple years. But there's nothing else out there.Sox literally have no one worth a damn in system
Would need to trade for a SP
Unless they want to do like last year and move Lopez back into rotation but that would make already poor BP even worse

And this is a collective failure of Rick Hahn, Kenny Williams, and probably mostly Jerry Reinsdorf. The refusal to spend on drafting and developing like other teams spend continues to haunt the White Sox over the past few decades.
