I literally stopped watching the Cubs the day they traded DeRosa away...that one to this day still leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

That trade also when I gave up on the Cubs, and then spent a season or two following box scores and playing fantasy baseball, but not watching games anymore, and then gave it up entirely.

for those who don't know what this is, it is Mike Olt's stat line....

.139 BA
84 SO
187 AB

the guy has struck out 84 times in 187 plate appearances....:shakehead

I had hope for this guy, but I don't think you can keep this guy up in the bigs with a .139BA despite 12 homers...

Olt was the biggest name in the trade coming to the Cubs last year, and one year later, there are three guys in that deal more valuable than him.

It wasn't exactly a surprise. He had lost his way before we got him. Everybody was hoping it was the vertigo or whatever, but it looks like he just isn't good enough.

He wasn't really the biggest name. Even then everyone said that CJ was the biggest piece in that trade. Olt was a lottery ticket with messed up eyes.

The #Dodgers are trading RHP Jonathan Martinez to the #Cubs as the player to be named later in the Darwin Barney trade.

Red Sox and Cubs have agreement in place that sends Felix Doubront to Chicago, source says.

Longest game by time in Cubs history, apparently.

Just saw this in the Trib recap story:

This game, which took six hours, 27 minutes, was the longest game (by time) in Cubs’ history. It surpassed the previous record of six hours, 10 minutes that it took the Cubs and Dodgers to play 21 innings on Aug. 17-18, 1982.

That 16-inning baseball games in 2014 are taking as long to play out as 21-inning baseball games in 1982 is a big part of why baseball has lost so much popularity in the last 30 years.
