We've started looking hard at options. My wife retires in July; I'm about 12 months away. Our daughter is living in Brandon and working full time.
Winters hold limited appeal. I can do some of it but have limited interest in it. I don't mind winter activities but as we age, the risk associated with many winter activities also increases. I imagine in retirement a day like today I'll just wake up, look outside, check the temperature and say 'nope, not today'.
We'd like to be out of the country at least two months of the year, three would be better. Costa Rica and Panama are starting to hold more appeal as Hawaii/U.S. is simply too expensive with the horrible exchange rate. Even without the exchange rate Hawaii has become somewhat obscene. It was always expensive; post-Covid it is much worse.
