For me, food first and foremost. I also like how big the country (Vietnam) is from north to south (1600 km). I can hardly wait to try some dishes in Hue.
Don't get me wrong, I love the food of the Philippines, I just like Vietnamese food better.
I also like that you can catch a train or bus and don't have to rely on flying to go to another country.
If you want to fly, flights are cheap. Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) to Phnom Penh (capital city of Cambodia), for example, is 85 bucks CAD.
Can you go ice fishing there, though?

It took just under 24 hours to get from Vancouver to Halifax via Ottawa

Could have been much worse... initially when my connecting flight that was scheduled for this morning got canceled, they booked me for tomorrow night. I would have spent 36 hours in Ottawa

Somehow they booked me on the first operating flight from Ottawa today. Those poor people working for the airlines were really struggling. Absolute nightmare

Wow 24 hours is a long time, when i went to Scotland last year it was only 10 hours total. Good thing you weren't flying out of Toronto, that probably would have taken even longer considering what happened there.

Anyone have some newer movie suggestions? I'm kinda bed ridden currently. I had a minor surgery this morning and I can barely turn my head I've just been staring at a wall and listening to hockey podcasts on the TV and pissing around on my phone all day, lol sad. I just watched that new Captain America the other day.. meh 6/10. The Gorge wasn't too bad 7.8/10

Netflix is pushing Renfield right now - Nicholas Cage hamming it up as Dracula. I recall enjoying it.

Just scrolling through Netflix...Bullet Train is good fun. Edge of Tomorrow, underrated sci-fi with Tom Cruise. Godzilla Minus One is good too. Ex Machina good thinker sci-fi. I hope you like sci-fi.

Hell ya thanks for the suggestions, I'm always down for anything Nicolas Cage. My mom told me bullet train was no good so I didn't watch it but on second thought she also likes NCIS so maybe I should give it a go. Edge of tomorrow I've seen a few times killer movie, they don't make em like they used to. I'll watch ex machina too looks interesting, although admittedly I've never got into the Godzilla movies but like I said I'm bed ridden really appreciate the suggestions

I had such a great experience last night. When I went to see the Canadian heavy metal band Striker in Zürich, I had the chance to talk to one of the guys after the show. He noticed my Winnipeg Jets T-Shirt and immediately told me to follow him and introduced me to the rest of the band. Even though they are big Oilers fans, they couldn't believe their eyes and we talked about hockey (the Jets are their least hated canadian team :D), music and even UFOs.

They are a bunch of super humble and some of the best guys I have ever met in my life.

My Canadian brothers from another mother. Will never forget this blissful experience.
