Before I head out on Vacation for 2 weeks-I am in London from Thursday till Tuesday--London is a mad house right now and nearly everything is shutting down Monday
What the hell is going on in London now that's so damned important?;)

Meanwhile, the private sector will keep right on working and keeping the economy afloat, in addition to paying the salaries of those who aren't working that day. Has the dimwit never heard of people PVRing stuff these days?

Obviously hasn’t happened in a long time, but apparently it’s been protocol in Canada to have a national holiday on the day of the Monarch’s funeral.

Oh boo f***ing hoo lol.

It's a once in 70 year event.

Oh good god I just read about Brett Favre and taking 5 mill plus money for speeches he never made from a welfare fund. What a garbage human being.

I think the speeches were like 500k and he paid that back apparently.

The 5mil was to build a new Volleyball stadium at the University he went to and his daughter played Volleyball there at the time.

I think the larger story is at least 77mil of welfare funds were misspent.

Random comment for this time of year but once again I f***ing hate canning. Like a rocket scientist we again bought Bernardin canning jars to be involved in canning. For those unfamiliar this involves setting up your kitchen with all kinds of crap, having to do all kinds of f***ing work, Boiling the shit out of anything and you being hotter than the sun.

This also involves the prospect of botulism poisoning or other issues if you do anything wrong. Fun fun fun instead of being in the sun.

We did 9 litre jars of beets. Like an idiot I figured I had the vinegar mixture right. no, no no. 20 hrs later I realize too late that I didn't use enough vinegar. It was also 3% instead of 5%. f***. Immediately threw the contents of the jars in freezer bags and froze. What I normally do in the first place. Waht a f***ing mess. For two days now covered in Beets blood and gore. Looks like murder occurred in here. I went outside yesterday and a couple got scared.. Oh, I'm dripping in beet blood. (exagerating, but my clothes have the blood red stains all over.) People back away nervously, I should try this DT....

we did do 4 jars with just the refrigerator method so that should be fine for a month.

Somehow in all these years I'd forgotten why we got rid of all our previous canning jars. f*** canning. This is why i have a second freezer. the end. heh

I think a person has to be a particular kind of person (not me) to love canning. haha

At least mason jars make for good beer mugs

After canning you kind of need that sort of thing. But these ones are big and wide with no handles. Maybe I make candles out of the f***ing things. I have enough red beet die to make red candles. .I'm seeing a lot of red lately, even in my piss. I'm eating too many red beets.

Or finish the Henday. Ever.
In fairness to the Henday its a provincial Ring Road built where it had to be under a long before predetermined TUC that was giving ample land in which to build and densify a city. Problems, fairly immediate, occurred due to the city constantly building out in South and way beyond where the Henday is. So much of the demand on SW Henday particularly is due to rampant overbuild in that region, which is exclusively the cities fault.

You think that engineering would have been able to determine what the density and projected for based on development permits. I remember hearing there was a severe underestimation of traffic in the original specs.

Said the guy that likely gets the day off.

Times have likely (or should) changed in 70 years.
I do get the day off, but due to my contract I don’t get paid for stat holidays so I’m losing a day of income. Don’t worry your tax dollars won’t be paying me a cent for not being at work.

Thats fair. But again its problematic in that the TUC, and thus the Henday is where it is due to delineation that occurred here as early as the 70's. Edmonton is severely sprawled and there was little reason for all the sprawl outside of what were they Henday limits.

Edmonton could have been a bit more balanced in where the density and development was headed. Henday works fine anywhere but the South West. Everywhere else it flows. It doesn't flow South west portion because of the enormous demands put on it there. One other very related point is that the Whitemud and Terwillegar and other interchanges are horrible, and the city was supposed to do that decades ago, and so that a lot of drivers that could be using other routes in Southwest crowd the Henday. its not as simple as the Province screwed up. City planning and sleeping on Riverbend and Terwillegar traffic nightmares was a ticking bomb that the city solely created.

An example of how well Henday is designed is the Gateway to Edmonton throughput. This is the main provincial corridor leading into Edmonton off arguably the busiest intercity link in Western Canada and theres virtually no load back up on it. It flows fantastically.

Last point but I can't imagine anybody living in newer regions of Riverbend or Windermere or even Ellerslie complaining about traffic because it was obviously going to be a problem. In southeast and East the Henday is EASY. North Henday Easy. Even most of West henday. But Southwest is the bomb. Should the road be wider just in that one area just because of stupid City planning?

Which looks better to you? Picture the above in color, and compare. Then consider what progress exactly means. Is it spending copiously to build the same things we had before. Is it Modernizing buildings to look ugly? (not sure why the pictures are duplicated.

M*A*S*H may be my all-time favourite program. Watching it at 11 pm before bed used to be a nightly ritual, but it doesn’t air at that time any longer.

He's a fictional character I know...but can you imagine a war of words between Matheson/Spector and Hawkeye?
