Nice start to the day.

I make coffee then go outside to go to the garage to fill my bird feeding station. There is a super heavy smell of gasoline in my garage/wood working shop. I look at the small gas container i have there, no leak. I go out onto my back garage pad and there is a great big gasoline spill in the alley. Further investigation shows someone drilled a hole in my gas tank of my truck to steal gas.

I then have to run back into the house and call the fire department who comes and has to clean up he spill as best they can.

So now I have had to:

- Report the incident to the police. (Massively annoying online report form)
- Call my insurance company to see if I am covered for gas tank replacement. (I forgot I had a whopping $1000 deductible)
- Make an appointment with the vehicle dealership to get a new gas tank installed.
- Order a new set of motion solar lights for my back garage as the old ones obviously did not work.

Sucks, sorry to hear. Lucky they didn't get your catalytic converter as well. Although they might be back later for that.

2 grand for the new tank.

So because some door knob wanted to steal about $150 of gas, it will cost me a grand plus a grand insurance should cover. Plus the cost of 5 firemen to come out and clean up the gas leak, plus epcor sent two people out to further clean up plus the cost of the police report etc.

I said it before i'll say it again I'd far prefer some dude come to my door and tell me he cannot afford gas and ask for $150.

Maybe they should teach people to siphon gas instead. Less headache to all involved... This is strictly a bad joke and just figured I'd see if I could lighten it up. What happened to you is flat out terrible and further to wondering whether people can even own much anymore with where we are headed in society.

What kind of douche does this damage just to get some gas. More, if you figure the guy was going to drill a hole in the tank why didn't he take the gas instead of letting most of it drip out everywhere as it seems you're saying.

What fuels this no doubt is drug epidemics. Its often these hair brained losers that will stoop at nothing. probably needed the gas to do some more B & E's somewhere or drive the stolen vehicle somewhere. Sometimes you just don't even want to know. Did they forcibly enter your garage?

No my truck is parked on the garage pad, I have an older stye garage and the door is not big enough. When i owned my previous cars i always parked in the garage, i can;t do it now though. This is one reason why when the city are doing back alley renewal in a year or so i voted for sure to pay extra for back alley lighting.

Vehicle break ins have gotten bad around Whyte too. Thank god I don't drive, had a coworker have his window smashed twice this summer.

They're doing mine too. We could be neighbors. heh

I have a steel garage door and a steel entry door. With special bolt lock/security bolt, and 5-6inch screws. Thats my specialty. Figure its going to take some noise to break it down. usually these people are lazy and just hit somewhere else. They say you can't keep people out if they want in, but you can make it harder. Sorry to hear about what happened. Just ridiculous how much everythign cost now as well. 2K for a gas tank? How much woud the vehicle cost these days if you had to part it out? 5million?

Does no pic a part have anything you could use instead?

f*** man, I'm sorry to hear this happened to you. Rotten f***ers. This is why I have zero sympathy for these types of people when karma gets around to getting them back for all the shit they do to people who work hard for what they have just to have it stolen and/or vandelised. Did they hit your neighbors too or was it just your truck?

I know the similar feeling when my garage got cleaned out a few years ago but the f***ers took a pretty sentimental piece to me when they went through my truck first (accidentally left it unlocked that ONE night). I feel for you, especially the cost to replace the tank. $2K is a lot of money.

(also ignore the first part of my post, I was gonna post a video of my puppy but then I got distracted and didn't finish. Came back later and read your posts about your vehicle and forgot to delete what I had originally posted)

Disgusting. Sorry for all your trouble.
Courts need to start severely punishing people who feel it’s OK to just damage/steal other people’s property. Instead they are going the opposite direction. Oh he’s got a drug problem. He had a rough upbringing. He’s marginalized. Let’s give him a second, third, tenth chance. Bunch of horseshit. Everyone over the age of five knows stealing and vandalizing is wrong. You choose to do it, you need some time in jail. Do it again? More time in jail. Unrepentant repeat offenders need to be monitored using technology upon release. Sorry, but if you’ve wasted that much of the system’s time and caused thousand in damage to citizens minding their own business in life, you lose your freedom and privacy.

Too bad these people don’t gave any real penalty. A good caning may be helpful in cases like this.
Saw those idiots in Europe and the US last year. Not surprised it’s made it’s way to Canada. It’s only a matter of time until somebody returns to their vehicle while the vandal is still in process and makes the ‘gas guzzler kills’ slogan come true. On the spot.

I would beat the ever loving dog shit out of them without thinking twice and hopefully get the chance to break their shit by using their heads as a battering ram or javelin as well. People need to learn to leave other people's shit alone. If it isn't yours you have no right to touch it, let alone damage it. Same goes for property, if you're not invited then you have no business being there.

One big reason why our vehicles are always parked in the garage. I know that there isn’t no risk, but it’s small. Theft of catalytic converters is a big deal.

This isn't very moderate. heh. jk.

But at the end of the day some punk ass stealing shit isn't worth going to jail for. Theres that to be said too. When we've had stuff stolen we take the hit, if its a big enough amount to be beyond deductible we claim it on house insurance. If not just eat it. Your life and freedom, and anybodies is more important than sending a punk to hell. They're already probably there. What kind of ratf*** life is it being a petty theft looking to score for drugs. Just unfortunate they exist around us.

Myself I'm thankful my burb area of town hasn't deteriorated to street crime like DT has.

All that said if somebody breaks into my house all bets are off. Thats the point of violence for me.

I had my work van broken into 4 times in under a month, I ended up backing it all the way up to my shed and strapping the side door shut, and they still tried to break in

Jeez, hit that many times in a month? Relentless bastards, hopefully your strap idea has worked and kept these skids out of your van.

I guess it's not bad enough that I am a kidney stone factory, now I have a calcified stone blocking my saliva duct and causing an infection. @Stoneman89 I think that it's time that I take your handle as the true Stoneman of HFOil!
I couldn't imagine what that is like...how did one wind up in your saliva duct, took a wrong turn at the spleen and headed north? Aside from antibiotics, is there anything you can take to shrink them down and how are they going to get rid of that one?

This is the setup to go with. Except from October to April pretty much in this part of the world. Or make it a flame thrower-lol (but don't need innocent animals getting torched, except that asshole cat who uses the flower bed as a shit hamper-jk, I would never intentionally cause pain and distress on any animal).
