Perfect timing. We have milk that expires today, and my son used it in his cereal this morning and said it was fine, then I gave it the smell test and pretty much gagged. Too each his own I guess. ;)

Two of my kids are hyper sensitiveabout expiry dates. If ANYTHING reaches the "holy" expiry date, they refuse to eat it, and they preach to me that it should be chucked out immediately. Of course, these are the same individuals that will take milk out of the fridge on a summer day, fill a glass and go into another room to watch TV or read a book and leave the milk sitting on the countertop for an hour or 3.

Be careful with eggs though. Made the mistake of eating an omelet from one of those egg cartons that was a couple days past and despite no sign of foul smell it was off. Those expiry dates seem real. I was vomiting later. I hardly ever vomit.

Expiry dates are a guide. Ridiculous to throw stuff out the minute it expires. I've seen stuff go bad well before and well after those dates. A lot of it can depend how it was stored and handled prior to even getting on the shelf, and then storage and care after purchase. To me, those are larger issues rather than some date stamped on something. In most cases, smell, texture and sight will determine if something is off. You example of the egg is most unfortunate but also unusual, since when an egg is cracked, the look and smell can be dead giveaways. That particular egg (s) could have been bad several days before expiry, for all we know.

Domino effect of certain states decriminalizing theft(up to $1000 in some cases)

If the states and cities aren't going to do anything due to their ideological beliefs, the corporations are going to respond to the new normal because they sure as hell aren't going to sit around and lose millions. End result is law-abiding consumers(as usual) will suffer the consequences in the form of massively increased inconvenience, intrusive surveillance, larger service/goods deserts in poorer neighborhoods, and every citizen treated like a potential crook rather than a potential customer. In the end, the plan to decriminalize things to save the poor(It's not a crime to just want to eat!), will backfire and make life worse for everyone. Just like what happens in all the other emotionally driven, poorly thought out plans where everyone attempts to do what superficially looks like the right thing without ever making the effort to think what the unintended consequences might be.

Of course, if you have amazon stock, you might win a bit too

It's more than that here. Printer cartridges, flea medications for pets, aquarium air pumps, etc., etc. Incredibly inconvenient.
Totally disconnected but I paused for a giggle that aquariums would be a thing in Hawaii, an island chain surrounded by the Pacific Ocean aquarium and reefs etc. My mind goes to odd places heh

Hey, if you live in Hawaii, theoretically and practically, you can just go for a short snorkel swim, and stock your own aquarium.:D

In New York a cvs had the tooth paste locked up. And the body wash
I stopped at a convenience store in North Edmonton and that kind of stuff was locked up too.
I think if I had a store I’d have everything locked up too.. have a bunch of tabs with the barcode on it under the locked up display item and keep the items in a stock room behind the till. Bullet proof glass with chain link behind it… fancy slots for the exchange.

I have huge trust issues though.

This is true, but some of us like to be oddballs and raise freshwater fish instead...

I hope this is okay for this thread, are there any STHs who aren't using their early access for the Oilers Fan Fest/Locker Room Sale on the 24th and would be willing to hook me up with 'em? Thanks in advance!

EDIT: I'm covered now!

Tylenol for kids is so hard to get these days lol. I went to so many different stores and then got a generic

It's ridiculous. I've had to get my mom, who lives in small town Sask to score me some and mail it out if I can't find it here, which is getting more and more the norm. There's going to be fights in the children's cold meds section with cold flu covid season upon us.

It's crazy. I would say Edmonton stores are fairly good overall in terms of stock. I went down to Vancouver for a while and I went to so many stores where their shelves were empty lol. Of anything. It was so frustrating.

I started buying doubles of some of the stuff that I know we buy a lot now.

I read even Sriracha is about to stop shipping already. Loaded up on that. Because of weather or something, they stopped production weeks ago. I remember when they stopped years ago. It was so expensive at some stores.

People in Vancouver have to buy more merchandise considering they set it all on fire at the end of every season.

I'll behave now but now promising. ;)
