I am going with Lonnie Quinn.. 4-8 inches and then on Sunday I can test out my new go pro and slide down a hill with a garbage pail

Best weatherman ever. Guy is hilarious. I just find myself laughing during his weather reports. There is something so unintentionally funny about him.

What will this mean for Sunday? Is this storm expected to carry through Sunday or will it be ending early Saturday?

12z euro caves and brings 12-18 inches to long island. Looks like the NAM was right all along.

Expect locally higher amounts. Storm starts between 4-9am. And again, this was never really my wish, just that i think the NAM is a favorable model in the short term.

Nam brings 2 feet across all of long island. Its not a question of if we get close to two feet, its about that total being a local or widespread number across LI. Im hoping that most of you were smart enough not to listen to the morons on news 12 and prepared accordingly.

This will be my last post on the snow, but nearly every model has significant snow on LI. One model just put a mesoscale band over LI FOR 4 hours with 7 inch per hour rates. Its conceivable that locations on LI reach higher totals than 2 feet, and in some cases higher than baltimore. Thats how this storm is setting up.

Stay warm everyone. There will be no isles game tomorrow.

If there is any sanity the game will be postponed. 90% of the fans are in LI and it's going to get nailed bad. Would not shock me at all if LIRR shuts down at some point, particularly if there are white out conditions. Don't have both team's schedules in front of me but could the game possibly be pushed to Sunday as Sixers, Nova and Temple have done in Philly?

Thoroughly enjoying the weather forecasts for NY while I'm in Ft Lauderdale enjoying the 65 temps even though raining. Tomorrow-- sunny and 65 but a bit windy, I think I'll be fine.

Was supposed to come home tomorrow -- but moved to Monday night.

Be safe people.

There is a part of me that wants the LIRR to shut down in the middle of the game to strand thousands of fans in BK, Jamaica and en route.

Not b/c I hate Isles fans, rather from a purely "I told you the LIRR sucks" POV.

All i can say is that this storm is going to wind up being worse for LI then some mid atlantic spots. The numbers coming in for LI from the models are increasing. We're reaching the 30 inch threshold for some spots on LI. The moisture coming off the ATL is going to explode this storm over our area.

The NAM killed it.

Just from looking at a map the more southern you are in Del the better you are. Seems like a steep gradient between getting well over a foot to less than 6 inches. Again that's just me looking at a snow map - I don't know the first thing about reading models and stuff.

Where in Del are you? We spend a lot of time in RB.

I'm in the Dover area, so not too far from the beaches. Just go down during the summers?

Also, the storm isn't too bad yet near me. I was expecting a lot worse already, but there's only a few inches so far.

Thats because the jackpot part of the storm is headed for southern new england. The meteorologists who predicted a worse storm for the mid atl are going to look terrible by sunday. All models support a major snowstorm for our area now.

Not that I question you, you know a hell of a lot more about this stuff than I do. How are you getting these massive amounts when most weather sites are saying 8-12 inches?

The weather stations are not nowcasting. They are taking an average of the models. All modes have come into an agreement that major moisture is headed for our area. The storm has accelerated and has been north of where it should have been at this point. Bring in the moisture from the atl and im saying 18 inch is the average. Bring in some of these expected bands tomorrow and you could see 7 inches fall in 4 hours. The question was whether rain was going to mix in. If you recall, news 12 indicated rain by dinnertime sat that brings down the totals.

There will be no rain at all. This is heavy, thick snow.

I hope you are more realistic in your weather forecasting than your hockey posts.

Makes sense. So you are expecting 2 feet across Long Island? What about more specifically long beach.
