Crazy that he and his brother are the only 2 players in history to have 2 seasons with 19 plus sacks.
Not that crazy considering:
1) sacks weren't officially recorded in the NFL pre-1982
2) seasons are now 17 games
3) they pass a lot more now

Apparently Deacon Jones would have had 3 21+ sack seasons when they only played 14 games.

Like all sports it's very tough to compare eras, rule changes and athlete training makes a big difference.
Offensive Lineman weren't nearly as athletic then and pass defense was far more lenient which gave the D Line more time to rush.

In every era it's always like vs like. O-lines and d-lines were playing with the same rules, training, coaching, etc. Plenty of d-linemen back then were big guys with limited athleticism whose primary (or sole) role was to stuff the run.

That's not true, lots of rules were implemented to protect the QB's and Receivers and to open the game up.
It's much harder to play defense now.

So true, the evolution of the tight end as essentially wide receivers and running backs that are receivers makes it even harder

Every rule in the book is designed to neuter defenses nowadays. That goes to show how many mediocre QB's there are in this league when they can't even run an offense in this era.

Years of not giving credit to OL has resulted in the DL being more athletic than the OL now...kids don't want to be offensive linemen anymore and it's a gap.

You say harder, I say different. Can't compete anymore with fat run-stuffing d-linemen, slower run-stuffing linebackers, and big-hitting safeties who can't cover their grandmas. Can't even put out an accurate kicker if he can't make enough 50+ yarders. Good running backs who can't catch or pass block have largely been legislated out of the game, as have fullbacks and run-blocking tight ends. Rule changes have been a fact of life in football since the 1860s, and they affect all aspects of the game. No doubt football will look different 50 years from now.

I know right , if Buffalo and Philly win tonight I'm going to hold a serious grudge against Dallas for blowing up my KC x BF x Dal x Phi tickets I had in. How do you lose to a 9-8 team at home after putting up the best offense during the season. I'm rooting for the Bills because I want to see them try and take out KC but I kind of hope Philly blows it against a hurt Mayfield so I feel better about the situation. They call it Wildcard Weekend for a reason lol.

Bills D doesn't look great and they're dropping like flies. This one is gonna end a nail biter I think

I dont really like the Fan chucking a snowball in the endzone when the Steelers receiver is trying to catch the ball

Thanks for nothing, Pittsburgh. Guess my boy Mahomes will have to do it the hard way. Ain't no thang.
