I unfortunately went to today’s game, as I was given a ticket to go with some friends in the champions club (which was only 25 dollars btw, to show how far it’s fallen). Got there right as it started, got some food, and by the time we actually sat down it was 5-0  this team sucks ass

remember when mikolas chirped dodger fans at the start of the season?

“It’s fun to go out there and try to prove people wrong,” Mikolas said with a grin. “I’m not going to tell all the people doubting us to eat s—I’d like to, but in the off chance I’m wrong, I look like an idiot. But in the chance that they’re wrong and I’m right, that’d be pretty neat.”

He didn't want to say it outright because he might look like an idiot... but much like he has as a starting pitcher, certainly failed on that one this season.

Mikolas and Matz have no business being on the team next year. Maaaaaybe as a long relief/swingman, but not as a starter.

I just don't see any way that ownership signs off on DFA-ing $28 million in salaries, no one is going to trade for them, and I find it highly unlikely that ownership will agree to spend more money to push them both to the bullpen by signing better players. We're pretty much stuck until 2026.

Team is so pathetic and desperate for ticket sales they are hosting Rams 25 yr 1999 reunions

Its a nice gesture I guess.

I do very much appreciate it as a lifelong Rams fan. I'm still a fan, and I still remember the days of watching S-Jax plow through defenses. He and Torry should be in the f***ing Hall along with Isaac, Orlando, and Kurt.

While I hope Contreras gets traded (because I don't see the value in having a permanent DH; he can't play catcher anymore), he's absolutely f***ing spot on. You don't spend money wisely, you don't win. Period.

I'm not a huge baseball fan, but I think you just have to spend, the wisely part is optional. In the WC era, 20 of 29 World Series winners were top 10 in payroll, 6 more were top half and 3 were bottom half for opening day payroll. 2 of the 3 bottom half teams made trades that put them well into the top half that season. Moneyball is dead. Just spend and if you spend foolishly, spend more.

They spent money on "solutions" the past few years. Gray, so far, is the only free agent signing that's somewhat panned out, and he's no longer the ace. They spent money on Contreras, Fowler, Cecil, Matz, Mikolas, Gibson, Lynn, Carpenter, just foolish spending without any forethought to it.

I agree that they absolutely have to spend more, especially when there's no salary cap. I agree with fixing mistakes by spending (i.e., they should f***ing trade or cut Mikolas and Matz - not one of the two; both of them, let Gibson and Lynn go - again, both of them, along with Goldschmidt - trade Contreras, anything to get anything out of those deals, get out of Arenado's deal right now when he's in decline, etc.), and I agree with spending on the right players, particularly homegrown players.

But like any team, it's not enough to have money to spend; you have to be smart with it. If they sign over-the-hill players and expect to get to the playoffs...well, I don't trust this front office to be smart like I do with the Blues and Los Angeles Rams. They will need the mother of all offseasons to make me care about what they do, and it's hanging on by a f***ing fraying thread.
