I know nothing about baseball prospects, so I just spent like 10 minutes stat watching them.

Saggese is a top 15-20 hitter in AA this year and he turned 21 in April. That's pretty impressive.

Kloffenstein was once a top prospect, didn't perform very well, fell out of favor, but then this year is top 10 in AA in IP, ERA, and strikeouts. He's about to turn 23.

Tekoah Roby is almost 22 and has been lit up in AA. Strikes out more than a batter an inning and doesn't walk many in either of his full minor league seasons. He's just getting hit a lot, which probably means his command isn't great yet. Misses in the middle too much more than likely. Still young for a pitcher.

Sem Robberse is Dutch, which is pretty cool. Been pretty good in AA as well. Scouting reports say he's a command first pitcher, but he's still striking out almost a batter per inning, which is pretty decent. Participated in the Futures Game this year.

John King is the only MLB player. Reliever. FIP suggests he's been pretty unlucky this year. Doesn't strike out many, so probably not a high leverage guy, but seems fine for middle relief. Can never have too many lefties out of the bullpen.

The depth of prospects now is nice with Davis in the draft, Kloffenstein, Saggese, and Roby. A top 10 pick next year. But we still need a top end potential starter badly. And no knock on Hince, but I think that's risky to go forward with him as the most talented arm in the farm and painfully thin in the bigs. I'd still trade Goldy if the price is right. So far so good, but I hope there's significantly more to come.

Having already paid a significant price for one of the game’s hardest throwers, the Blue Jays have hunting for an offensive piece to augment a group that feels one bat light. A reunion with Teoscar Hernandez and the suddenly selling Seattle Mariners is believed to be among the options on their list while infielder Tim Anderson of the tearing down Chicago White Sox is another possibility to at least be under some consideration.

But with Bichette having walked off the field after rounding first on a single to right, stopping on his way to second and pulling up grabbing at his right knee in the third inning, a reprioritization of their needs in the final hours of trading season may well be necessary.

Anderson, who comes with a $14-million club option for next year, isn’t the only short-term option available. St. Louis Cardinals shortstop Paul DeJong is another option – he comes with club options of $12.5 million for 2024 and $15 million for 2025 – and intriguingly, Blue Jays GM Ross Atkins said during the talks about Hicks, “we did exchange bigger concepts and talked about several of their players – that's usually the case.”

Whether that’s DeJong or other potential fits like outfielders Tyler O’Neill or Dylan Carlson wasn’t immediately clear, but it’s pretty clear the Blue Jays need to keep bolstering the roster to fully leverage the group currently in place.

Even after parting with double-A starters Sem Robberse and Adam Kloffenstein, Atkins insisted the Blue Jays “are in a strong position” in terms of prospect capital and added that he and his staff “do see opportunities” for additional trades.

Bichette’s status is an unwelcomed addition into the mix.

Please, MO, send the Canadian O'Neill back home and throw in DeJong for whatever you can get!

re: DeJong - at least it will remove their ability to give him 'one more chance' and hopefully open up a roster spot for Masyn Winn in the very near future.
I just don't want to Rush Winn. Especially if I have to see another episode of The Gorman whine-show like last year.

Carlson is in the lineup today thankfully. It would be a huge mistake to trade him, especially only a year after refusing to include him in a potential Soto deal. Only way I’d be okay with it is if a youngish front of the rotation type arm was coming back, but nobody would do that because Dylan hasn’t proven himself yet.

Same here. I still don't see where they get a #1 and a #2 starter for next year.

If the Cards sign a FA pitcher, more than likely that pitcher was QO’d and the Cards will forfeit their 2nd again. This time it will be a top 40 pick.
