OT: OT: Lets Go Cardinals! (All Baseball Talk Here) Part 2

I didn’t realize Oquendo wasn’t already in the Cards HoF. Feels like he should’ve been in it from the beginning for his work as a coach.

It's just been painful to watch this year, and with SC playing great, the Battlehawks games being a blast and playoff hockey, I have zero desire to subject myself to a nightly cardinals disaster.

I love baseball through and through and I'll at least take my family to our yearly game but there is zero chance I do more than that while DeWallet and Mo continue a decade of mediocrity by refusing to spend on pitching.

There are a lot to choose from, but I think tonight’s loss is the worst of the year. Cards REALLY suck.

Honestly seems like nothing is working. Hitting is good but the pitching sucks. Then the picthing is good and the hitting sucks. Then the closers can't end a game. I remember Helsley gave up 3 runs in the 9th a few games ago. Gallegos was dealing that night. Now Helsley was dealing and Gallegos gives up 3 in the 9th. Honestly wouldn't mind us losing for the rest of the year. Hopefully that will produce some real changes into how the cardinals run their baseball operations

Nothing is changing anytime soon because management lets Mo do whatever he wants so just tune them out. I haven't watched them in weeks and now I am done scoreboard watching them.

f*** off Cardinals.

When is the last time the Blues and Cards had a top 10 pick in the same year? 2 basement teams in the same year. Damn, I can’t remember this happening.

As it is a slow time at work for me this is the perfect way to fill some time. Best as I can tell, you'd have to go back to 1989. The Blues selected Jason Marshall 9th overall and the Cardinals selected Paul Coleman 6th overall. Coleman, it seems, never even got a cup of coffee in the big leagues. If I'm missing a season someplace in there, someone please let me know.

As a total aside - what a crazy draft the Red Wings had in 1989. Got all of Lindstrom, Fedorov and Konstantinov out of it. Also drafted Dallas Drake and Mike Sillinger (who, funnily enough given how all these careers would shake out, was their first pick)

Live look-in on Cardinals pitchers today:

Yeah I don't know what the players are doing. Arenado has been bad, Donovan bad, Carlsson bad, O'Neill bad, Nootbaar no power, Burelson bad. The rotation sucks and the bullpen is very hit or miss. We knew the pitching would suck but the hitters have been really bad these last couple of weeks. So maybe it wasn't all of Jeff Albert's fault the hitters suck this year as well. Only bright spots have been Gorman and Goldschimdt tbh

It's okay, Marmol doesn't worry about their ability to bounce back. He also doesn't care about winning the first, second, or third game in a series, apparently. This is just another test to build off of.

Removing one of their best hitters in the 6th inning for a guy the Cardinals literally DFA'd 2 weeks ago, but was so bad that nobody claimed him, was just another challenge for the team. So is constantly rotating players around defensively like it's a little league game. "Who's On First?" takes on a whole new meaning with Oli. Maybe Gorman's 'back tightness' was from having your 2nd baseman playing 3rd base for funsies.

The more they lose the more resilient they become. Imagine the resolve of a team with a 6 game losing streak, who just gave up 11 runs in 4 innings and is 12 games below .500 in early May. Wow!

I just hope all this losing creates some change in how the cardinals operate. The dodgers used just throw money ay everything but ever since they brought in Andre Friedmen they have become a team who spends and drafts/develops very very well. Hopefully they fire MO and bring in someone from outside the organization

I love how they’re preaching patience. This team is what it is at this point: dogshit. They’re acting like the team is 3-6 through the first 9 games. They’re 20% through the season at this point.

I’ve never been so apathetic towards the Cardinals and I can’t see myself spending any money whatsoever to go see this embarrassment of a team play this year.

Already 10 games back. Hilarious!!!
It would be worse if the Pirates and/or Brewers were not on 4 game losing streaks of their own.

Overall the whole division is in a rough patch right now, a team like the Cubs couldn't take advantage of those teams struggling either, and has managed 1 win in their last two series vs. the Marlins and Nats. And the Reds are the Reds.

I hope Flaherty and Montgomery have great years so they can be moved at the TDL for a heist.

The silver lining is if any team wants to jump start their season, sweeping the Shartinals is a great first step.

It would be very impressive if the Cards don’t win tonight. Montgomery is starting, at home against the Tigers and they’re starting a mediocre lefty. Goldy is going to get a couple RBI, Carlson and Edman are hitting from their stronger side, and Arenado should make something happen as well. Should be a blowout honestly, but I’ll take any win at this point.

I'm confused at this. You're right in regards to how the Dodgers are ran. However, isn't this exactly how Mo tries to run our club as well? We have drafted and developed pretty well under Mo's tenure. All the vitriol I hear from Cards fans around the city year after year seems to be that he refuses to spend big dollars, the exact thing that you mention as a fault of the Dodgers pre-Friedman.
