I don't think it's as doom and gloom as a lot of folks in here are claiming in terms of climbing back into this race. We don't need a double digit win streak, although that would certainly help. We just need to win series. If we play at a .570 clip the rest of the year, we're closing in on 90 wins which is what I think it will take to win the Central.

The Central is not good. I don't care what the standings look like right now, the Pirates are still a bad baseball team and I expect regression to the mean sooner than later.
“All we have to do is win nearly twice as often as we have in the first 30 games(with no real obvious signs of incoming improvement) and we’ll maybe have a shot to make the playoffs in the shittiest division in baseball.”

Can't wait for our 2 Home "playoff" games again! Dewitt is gonna build some more apartments and gyms with that revenue!

Now that the long road trip is over and they haven't improved, this is the time to fire dummy. Give Stubby a chance as the interim manager.

After the way this team has performed they deserve the Clapp.
Nah no need to worry. This 2-8 road trip will serve them well in September! Our fearless leader Marmol said he doesn't care what everyone else says!

After watching Marmol laughing it up last year when Helsley was clearly blowing the game and didn’t have any semblance of control (and then leaving him in when nearly everyone watching the game knew that was a supremely dumb decision), I knew Marmol wasn’t the guy for this team.

Believe I read somewhere that the Cardinals are something like 16-36 or something along those lines since sometime in September last season. That is including their "playoff" appearance.

We might have our 1st top 10 pick since JD Drew. We are about 18% through the season, so it's similar to the Blues season where you are going to dig a hole too deep to dig yourself out.
This is worse than the Blues. They had legitimate injury issues on their Blue line and atleast DA was willing to make trades to spare the season from a total loss by looking towards the future. The Cardinals won't do the same, in fact, I expect them to trade Walker for a bench player and a fringe starter.

The Cardinals knew all these areas were weaknesses and concerns and they literally did nothing but sign Contreras last offseason. This is 100% on them as well as Marmol, who they also are responsible for hiring.

I was not a huge Shildt fan but he was miles better than Matheny and Marmol and they literally fired him after a 17 game winning streak before losing in a squeaker WC game vs a 100+ win team. Yeah putting in Reyes was stupid but so was Marmol's little league managing of Helsley last October and pulling Q when he was at like 65 pitches.

We were a consensus top 10 team with top 5 odds to win the WS coming into the year. The team has more talent than it's shown. It's 30 games in a 162 game season. Clearly, things haven't gone that well. However, there are signs of improvement in the staff. We have, I believe, 4 quality starts in our last 6 or so after having 2 through the first 20+ games.

It's not going to surprise me if, come the end of May, we're hovering around .500 and playing much better ball. It's an extremely long season.

Yeah the Cardinals FO won't move "prospects' like Carlson et al. for Juan Soto but will move a consensus top 5 prospect in the MLB for a bench player and a fringe starter.

I'd say the odds Arenado wants out of here is growing by the day as his window to win gets smaller. If this team (as well as Arenado) doesn't have a massive turnaround in May and June, It's going to become a more than a possibility.. The guy wants to win and if we are showing no signs of having what it takes to be playing meaningful baseball in October, will he be willing to go into his age 33 season trusting Mo and his lapdogs to get what they need from Dewitt to make this team better??

Yes, I know it's early and anyone with common sense knows the season is a marathon, not a sprint. But at some point you are what you are..

His shitty play is a part of the reason they are 10-20.

f*** Mo and Marmol though. Things will never change with those 2 until fans stop going to the games
