Marmol is great. Our stars are not. Can’t build your team around selfish douchebags without an ounce of career post season success and expect anything different.

That better be the end of Jeff Albert.
He should have been fired years ago. Same with Mo. They are cockroaches who only care about playing well enough to get laughed at in WC games and drawing over 3 million fans. Until fans stop packing Busch, you will never see those 2 losers out of the picture.

This franchise needs a rebuild, the core is full of playoff chokers and their depth is atrocious. They have no legit #1 ace since Flaherty is hurt all the time (also going to be a Dodger or Angel as soon as he can).

And now to top it all off, they have another foolish manager who was 1/2 the reason they just got eliminated. This series should be going to Game 3 right now even with their pathetic hitting. Awful managing by that clueless moron.

Mo will not be fired because he executes his job to perfection. Win the division, and get the fans through the gates of Busch, while spending just enough to do it.

Despite that this team had significant potential to go further than the wildcard series. Unfortunately the bats went cold at the wrong time of the year.

I don't think so. They play in the worst division in baseball and could not beat quality teams. They were like 34-40 vs teams with winning records. The Phillies meanwhile while not even a good team IMO are better than us and play in the best division in baseball. Put the Cards in the NL East and they likely are barely above .500.

This Cardinal team has a OF group and SS who cannot hit. You need run producers and OBP monsters in those positions because you just saw what happens when your "MVP" candidates face good pitching and don't adjust to it. Marmol hitting Donovan 5th is pure stupidity when he hasnt done it all year and was doing well in the leadoff role. And if hes going to change the lineup around like he did, continuing to hit Goldy and Arenado 3/4 when they are taking BRUTAL at bats is also another dumb move.

This is a very crappy team that just beat up on a lousy division that basically was a 2 team race. The Brewers played worse than us which is the only reason they won the division. This team has not played good ball since the Braves series in August.

Either way, Marmol is not gonna bring you a WS championship so hopefully they fire his ass and bring in someone with actual experience.

Just checking in on this. Yesterday we scored 6 runs and Goldy/Arenado combined to slash .000/.250/.000 with 0 RBI and 1 run scored. Can't help but notice you were silent.
lineup is awful if goldy or nado do not produce.

pathetic
things that make you go hmmmmmm aug 13 2022. this thread really is a nice read. i encourage you all to read back 15-20 pages till today. I recommend starting here as it pretty much summarizes how the front office views all of us and how we are pretty much the mid 2010s Redwings. They do just enough to make the playoffs but not even close to being a serious contender. No need to be as long as 3 + million sheep pile on into Busch. OT: - OT: Lets Go Cardinals! (All Baseball Talk Here) Part 2

@bluesfan94 do you think Arenado is better than Rolen?

What makes him "great?"

Shame that the rest of the team didn't show up for Yadi and Albert. Pretty lame way to go out, but at least it was a fun regular season.

I don’t know where to f***ing begin to bring this franchise back to championship caliber.

We all know it won’t. The business model is to go dumpster diving in the offseason, half ass the first half of the regular season and then hope to turn it on in early September and get to the playoffs only to make a quick exit from it. It’s the new Cardinal Way.

Cardinal bats going cold in October. A Redbird tradition since 1985 ( with exceptions of 2006 and 11 of course).

It’s bad enough they haven’t won the World Series in 11 years, but here’s the worst part of it all, if not for Atlanta choking in the 2019 NLDS, they would be going on nine years without winning a playoff series. If the rest of the fanbase is cool with that, then they’re part if not the bigger part of the problem.

Scrooge DeWitt and his cohorts wanted it so that they didn’t have to do the hard work of building a legit championship roster from the ground up AND in free agency, you know, like he used to prior to 2006. He’s gotten fat and happy since then. It’s time for new leadership at the top.

Lol I can't believe people want Marmol fired after 1 bad game. Yea he screwed up bad in game 1. He's also a rookie manager who had a good year and is well liked by his players. You wouldn't instill much confidence in your next manager if he thinks he's going to be fired for not winning a World Series in his first year. He learned his lesson and hopefully he can build off of it and not make the same mistake again. This team has much bigger problems then Oli.

"I can't believe people want Shildt fired after one bad game. I mean, his decision to bring in Reyes to have another meltdown was bad but we have gotten to the playoffs and got to watch 1 game, it was a great year!"

Marmol is the main reason we won't have a game tonight and the careers of Yadi and Albert is over. He overmanaged when he didn't need to and then did idiotic crap with his closer. He's another awful manager who overvalues analytics over what his own eyes are telling him.

The entire front office needs to be gutted, a rebuild needs to occur and a new manager is needed. This franchise is no longer the class of the NL, they are mediocre at best.

Playoff chokers have been exposed. They are now the new Clayton Kershaws until they prove otherwise.

Juan Soto would have been real nice, wouldnt he? A LHB who plays a corner OF position, but who needs that when we have a OF of Nootbar, Yepez and Carlson or Dickerson!
