Any word on Jake Gardiner?

He has been out with a concussion for quite some time. I've been starting to get nervous that it could be a long-term kind of situation.

Been riding the bike, feels a lot better, but has not skated yet.

Dont want JVR at C, love him on the half boards and working down low.

Lupul - Bozak - Kessel
Mac - Grabo - JVR
Kulemin - McClement - Frattin
Brown - Steckle - Broll

phaneuf - gunnar
Komi - Gardiner
Liles - Kostka

note: believe franson signed a year long deal in the SEL so he is not coming back.

No chance for either

This is our D - Franson, Phaneuf, Gunnar, Gardiner, Ranger, Komisarek, Liles, Holzer before Fraser's name comes up.

Deschemps hasn't even been THAT great for the Marlies. He's been painful to watch at times.

do you have a solution for toughness and the PK. our team is poor in both categories. really poor.

Our defense looks terrible without Gardiner in it.

Hopefully Holzer can step into a role similar to what Schenn did when he was playing well.

Hard to say, maybe Carlyle has a better system.

Fraser is kind of tough but he will get beaten to the outside, especially at the NHL level.

Deschemps isn't tough and theres a few guys on the Marlies I would prefer to have for the PK.

Hoping in the next couple years additions of Broll, Devane, and Biggs in the line up will help with toughness.

McClement hopefully helps the PK.

Beautiful it is, but imagine in a year or 2 if Burke and Carlyle play their cards right and do not go with the quick fix.

Phaneuf
Gardiner
Percy
Finn
Rielly

Jones?

Much more stoked than seeing Franson, Liles, Gunnar or Komi.

i agree with you about McClement. he was brought in for that for sure. we need one more and if the trade rumors are correct Bozak could be on his way out. Brown, McClement, and Kuli are the only PKers. Brown and Kuli have been poor though.

Holzer should have been playing in the NHL a long time ago. he will pass with flying colours.

Yeah, we'll see how it goes. It might be something that gets fixed up next off-season, hard to do anything now.

I think it would be good to give as many Marlies as possible a chance to make the team because of them being in game shape.

I expect the Oilers to come out strong...and we may even see Scrivens steal Reimer's job if Luongo doesn't come here.

If the new CBA allows buy-out Komi
Have Ranger and Fraser your 5-6 guys on D.
Fraser has been an absolute BEAST for the Marlies.

You're bringing out tank nation before a single game has been played. Hence the

And you are the same Leafs fans that think this year is different despite the evidence, other than JVR, what is better about this team than last year? You realize Schenn is gone from the 29th worst GA, one better than 30GA the last 2 of the past 4 years. Who is going to play defence for this team, shall we reacquire Lebda?

Rielly will probably get the 10 games that most ELC's are given before being sent back. Anyways...

Lupul - Connolly - Kessel
JVR - Grabovski - Kadri
Kulemin - Bozak - MacArthur
McClement - Steckel - Brown
(Lombardi, Rosehill)

Gunnarsson - Phaneuf
Gardiner - Franson
Liles - Ranger
(Komisarek)

Reimer
Rynnas

1. Connolly has some incentive to play and perform, since it is his contract year.

2. At this point, Kadri has learned a spot to lose. If he loses it, well, that's his problem.

3. Franson got the short end of the stick here. Big time. He played well, when he got chances. Also assuming he opts out of his SEL contract.

4. Assuming Ranger signs with the big club.

5. Scrivens is on fire in the AHL right now... don't mess with that.

Yeah, because Seth Jones will solve all our problems.. Goaltending is the major problem with this team, Not the defence. Although not having Gardiner hurts.

The thought of starting yet another season with Nozak as our #1C really subdues my excitement.

IMO, Kadri gets a top 6 spot, which means someone's out and I choose Kule to 3rd and Mac goes away for a needed D-man:

Lupul-Bozak-Kessel
JVR-Grabovski-Kadri (I dislike the R-R-R/L-L-L split, but I think we're stuck with it for now)
Kulemin-McClement-Frattin
Komarov-Connolly-Brown
Lombardi-Steckel

Gunnarsson-Phaneuf
Liles-(playertobefromMacArthur)
Ranger-Holzer
*Gardiner-Komisarek

I assume the majority of people here know something that says Komarov will come back, but if he doesn't I actually like Ashton in that spot. They're finally playing him on his proper hand and while he could still get more physical I like what I've seen from him in terms of being an NHL calibre grinder type. I don't think there's much chance you see Komisarek or Lombardi bought out this season. Komi may have to go depending on who and what can be acquired next offseason, but unless there are just monster shockwaves of player movement in the two weeks or so 'til opening day, I just don't see the need to waste an amnesty on either player. That will of course depend on whether you can hold amnesties or not and if so for how long.
