Komi isn't a bad D-man, he was a terrible fit for a Ron Wilson system, like Schenn. If you play the right guys the wrong way the end result is always the wrong one.
I tend to agree, and not only because I like the underdog stories, but because there's plenty of evidence of every single defensive defensemen struggling under Wilson's system. Komisarek has very limited hockey IQ and vision, but as long as he knows what to do in a given situation (system & communication), he can be an effective physical defensemen.
We all know that unless we're talking about making sarcastic responses to the media, communication wasn't Wilson's forte. Most of us has also seen Carlyle talking to players right after they got off a shift, to let them know what they did right or wrong. A coach like Carlyle is pretty much what we needed after the reign of Wilson.
