I hope Brown gets moved. He's been a pretty big disappointment so far.

They did? First time I've heard that.
Who did they pass up on for JVR?

They did not pass on a #1C, the got JVR instead of getting a #1C elsewhere. That's what I meant. I guess you did not try to understand what I was saying too hard!

Here come the 2013 Leafs! Uh oh…

Here come the 2013 Leafs! Uh oh…

The words many fans have long awaited – for 113 days to be precise – have been spoken. After what seemed like an incessant period of childish blaming of the other party,a moment of lucid clarity broke through the dark and bitter happenings of the past 4 months. Gary Bettman and Don Fehr stood side by side – perhaps for the first time ever – and announced that a framework for a proposed 10-year CBA had been agreed upon. Though much work is yet to be done, and in short order, as far as putting pen to paper and sorting out fine details, the lockout – for all intents and purposes – is over. It won’t, however, soon be forgotten, or at least it shouldn’t. From the hypocrisy of Owners crying broke mere hours after signings $100 million contracts, to the smoke-blowing lunacy of players claiming they are part of an all for one, one for all brotherhood while simultaneously buying plane tickets and jettisoning to Europe and Russia, it’s been a whirlwind – and ridiculous – 16 weeks.

Still lots could happen before the start of the season, but I'm excited so this is what i would like to see happen:

Lupul Grabo Kessel - Maybe all our eggs in one basket, but I don't buy the Grabo/Kessel don't mesh stuff. Grabo would bring much better defense and offense to this line than Bozak.

JVR Kadri Frattin/MacArthur - Young line with lots of potential. They would be put out against weaker competition

Kulemin McClement Connolly - Used as a shut down line. For all the grief Connolly gets he is a smart veteran that is versatile.

Komorov Steckle/Lombardi Brown - Energy line that is hard to play against. I'd rather have Lombardi in for his speed but Steckle seemed to be a favorite of Carlyles last year.

That leaves Bozak, hopefully he'll be part of a trade for Loungo.

Defense pairings depend on Gardiner and Ranger.

Gunnarson Phaneuf
Gardiner Ranger
Liles Komisarek/Holzer

That leaves Franson who should go with Bozak to Vancouver.

Probably the strongest line-up when everyone is healthy. Might rearrange some lines, but the strongest players except Holzer instead of Rielly.

Lupul - Connolly/Kadri - Kessel
VanRiemsdyk - Grabovski - MacArthur
Frattin - Bozak - Kulemin
Brown - McClement - Komarov
(Steckel - Lombardi)

Gunnarsson - Phaneuf
Gardiner - Ranger
Liles - Franson

frattin and kadri will not start ,unless there are injuries.
gardiner is injuried, a month away , no need to rush.
will carry only 13 forwards, and 7 defence
franson will not sign this year, burke will need more time to work out a contract with him, maybe he is going for loungo, trade

So someone suggested buying out Grabovski, our only top 2 centre. Makes sense.

And is there something I'm missing with Paul Ranger? I haven't followed the Marlies so closely, is he playing that well!? He seems to be in everyones lineups.

Not expecting Lupul/Kessel chemistry, so I'm hoping that, somehow, these lines work:

JVR - Grabovski - Kessel
MacArthur - Kadri - Lupul
Kulemin - Bozak/Connolly - Lombardi
Komarov - Mcclement - Brown/Steckel

Gunnarsson - Phaneuf
Liles - Holzer/Komisarek
Gardiner - Franson

This is a pretty poo team.

Am pretty excited for hockey to start, but goodness gracious this team is bad on paper. Carlyle will have to work some magic to get them to the playoffs.

He's a man among boys in the AHL.(a men's league)

I wonder will Lupul have a good .5 year under Carlyle, I still think there are hard feelings from Joffrey on playing for Randy. Also can Reimer be what he was for .5 a year in 10-11 and without Allaire. Lots of question marks this year, no one behind Phaneuf the most glaring.

Joffery Lupul - Tyler Bozak - Phil Kessel
James Van Riemsdyk - Mikhail Grabovski - Clarke MacArthur
Nikolai Kulemin - Jay McClement - Matt Frattin
Leo Komarov - David Steckel - Mike Brown

Dion Phaneuf - Carl Gunnersson
Paul Ranger - Morgan Rielly (9 games/less until Gardiner comes back)
JM Liles - Korbian Holzer
Mike Komisarek

James Reimer
UFA Backup

This lineup gets us a top 5 pick again, enough with the same old lines. Get Bozak out of the #1 spot and give it to our best center, Grabo. I see Kadri being the better 2nd line C, way more skill and thats what you need not a grinder like Bozak.
