I completely agree with this. The Godfather movies are okay. I haven't watched them in a long time. I watch Goodfellas at least annually these days, sometimes twice annually.
Maybe this is also more of a generation? The Godfather movies, at least the first two, slightly predate me.
Although, I love plenty of older films and sitcoms that predate me. I'm a huge fan of All in the Family. It was still going when I was born, but the majority of it was from before I was born.
Really love the original Alfred Hitchcock Presents from the 50s. Some of those were BRUTAL for the 50s. Hitchcock was one of the first really sick f***s haha. I'm not a huge fan of his films, but loved those shows. It's also fun when you watch one and you come across an actor or actress that you're very familiar with, but only in their older form. Like the episode that featured a very young RIp Torn.
My longtime ex-girlfriend that was born in 1979 LOVED Lucille Ball and I Love Lucy. I wound up buying her the entire series on DVD, which cost a fortune at the time because DVDs were a new thing at the time. It had the original series, the Lucy Desi Comedy Hour and the Lucy Show that came after Lucy and Desi split.
The Lucy Show was Lucy and Ethel, only they weren't Lucy and Ethel anymore lol. I would have loved that show a lot more if they had stayed the same characters, and if it had been their post-marriage lives from Ricky and Fred. Ethel (who was Vivian like her real name by the Lucy Show) could have talked about how happy she was to not be with old man Fred anymore and how she wasted her life marrying that old goat. It was very known she was unhappy having her husband cast as a much older man and the two of them hated each other because of it.
