Totally off topic, but this clip reminded me that Samuel L. Jackson was actually in Jurassic Park.

Guy is totally the most famous actor in that movie and arguably the most famous actor in Goodfellas, yet had such minor, insignificant roles in both films. He was pretty much an unknown back in the Goodfellas days and was still not much of a known until Pulp Fiction, which may have been the same year or the year after Jurassic Park.

That's one other reason that it's hard to believe the guy is 75 years old. Because he was pretty much an unknown prior to his 40s and the guy looks stupid young for 75, especially for a guy that doesn't really appear to have had a whole lot of work done to his face.
Sam Jackson is great, but I don’t think there is an argument that he is more famous than De Niro.

It's funny how the ''Metro is so good'' and yet it has it's fair share of overachievers.

The Islanders, Flyers and Capitals.

Those are some mediocre at best rosters that have somehow hung around.

I guess it depends on the generation.

The people that I grew up with are more familiar with De Niro, but people 15-20 years younger than me? I'd have to think Jackson is much more recognizable.

I know quite a few people 20 years younger than me who have never seen Goodfellas and have no interest or knowledge of the movie whatsoever.

I bet a lot of people born after a certain period know De Niro as ''That Meet the Parents/Fockers father in law guy.

Most of his biggest movies are from the 90s and earlier, whereas Jackson's biggest movies are the 90s and later.

I agree with you on this. It’s a generational thing.

My 1989 born ex-girlfriend was the epitome of that “Meet the Parents/Fockers guy?” I was talking about. And she wasn’t even nearly the first person around that age I had heard say that. I just giggled.

She had never seen Goodfellas before I showed it to her. It was probably being filmed around the time she was born. We watched Midnight Run (I think that’s 1988) which is one of my favorites and she recognized Charles Grodin as the dad from the Beethoven movies, which I’m familiar with but I’ve never seen one before.

She did recognize Joe Pesci as one of the Home Alone burglars, which that movie came out the same year as Goodfellas, but that’s more of a kid-ish movie than most of the movies with those guys.

Is it also fair to say those films and stars are bigger in the region most of us are from? Meaning Jersey/New York.

She was from Alabama/Georgia/Lake City, Florida (Lake City may as well be Georgia) and was more than familiar with Burt Reynolds, who is even older than De Niro and Pesci. He was very popular in her household.

My one good friend I have from down here is even younger than her and had never seen any of these movies until I got him watching them over here. We’ve been binging the Sopranos. He’s never seen it before. He liked all this stuff, but would have never been exposed to it if not for me.

I know the Godfather and Godfather 2 are typically modern classics akin to Citizen Kane or Dr Zhivago but I much prefer Goodfellas. It’s just brilliant in my view. Pesci is transcendent and Liotta’s role fit him perfectly. It was definitely Liotta’s best screen appearance other than Bee Movie.

I completely agree with this. The Godfather movies are okay. I haven't watched them in a long time. I watch Goodfellas at least annually these days, sometimes twice annually.

Maybe this is also more of a generation? The Godfather movies, at least the first two, slightly predate me.

Although, I love plenty of older films and sitcoms that predate me. I'm a huge fan of All in the Family. It was still going when I was born, but the majority of it was from before I was born.

Really love the original Alfred Hitchcock Presents from the 50s. Some of those were BRUTAL for the 50s. Hitchcock was one of the first really sick f***s haha. I'm not a huge fan of his films, but loved those shows. It's also fun when you watch one and you come across an actor or actress that you're very familiar with, but only in their older form. Like the episode that featured a very young RIp Torn.

My longtime ex-girlfriend that was born in 1979 LOVED Lucille Ball and I Love Lucy. I wound up buying her the entire series on DVD, which cost a fortune at the time because DVDs were a new thing at the time. It had the original series, the Lucy Desi Comedy Hour and the Lucy Show that came after Lucy and Desi split.

The Lucy Show was Lucy and Ethel, only they weren't Lucy and Ethel anymore lol. I would have loved that show a lot more if they had stayed the same characters, and if it had been their post-marriage lives from Ricky and Fred. Ethel (who was Vivian like her real name by the Lucy Show) could have talked about how happy she was to not be with old man Fred anymore and how she wasted her life marrying that old goat. It was very known she was unhappy having her husband cast as a much older man and the two of them hated each other because of it.

Calgary are such a disappointment. They could be a playoff team this year, but they're underachieving and it sounds like their pending UFAs are all jumping ship.

Man, there's only like 5 teams in the league right now (roughly) under NHL 500.

Calgary are horrible today. Making the Flyers look like a championship caliber team.

Florida put up a bunch on the Avalanche early, they’re leading 3-0 after the first. At one point the Avs goalie had a .500 save percentage.

And then the Avs tied it, but the Panthers took the lead right back and out came the Avalanche goalie.

The last goal was BRUTAL. A point shot with a highly questionable screen.

First three goals weren’t bad, but this guy is a bum. I’ve said so since Arizona first called him up 3 years ago.

The Caps won with a minute left in regulation? Are you kidding me?

The Kings are garbage humans that only managed to beat Columbus (4-3 in OT) and the Flyers (5-0, somehow).

But they’re 2-4-3 vs the Metro now (and 7-6-4 vs the East) and I hope they all f*** off and die and take their fraud conference with them. f***ing losers.

IMG_2362.jpeg

They’re also coached by a LOSER that’s suckered everyone into thinking he’s an elite head coach.

He probably thinks they can’t beat the East because it’s not fair that they had to play a game that started at noon Pacific time today, because no other teams are forced to play at noon hardly ever in a season.

f*** that koala looking loser motherf***er and his dumb full head of gray hair. Can’t wait for this idiot to be unemployed again. One of the most undeserving reputations in the league of any head coach.

All he’ll ever be remembered for in BOTH San Jose AND LA is 3-0 lead and lost 4-3.

The Kings remain a pathetic joke against teams we want them to beat. I now hate that team and wish them nothing but failure.
Vegas are another team with a questionable record this year against the East. They did beat the Long Island losing point culture in regulation last night though.

The game tying goal on Talbot was about as ugly as both of those goals on Vitek the other night against Chicago. So gross.

I take no team seriously coached by this career loser.

Not to mention he’s a minion of pathetic excuse for a human Mike Babcock.

So was Bill Peters. Another quality human being. I can only imagine the conversations those guys had behind closed doors. Todd and Bill Peters were never with Babcock at the same time though, unless I’m mistaken.

And as much as I don’t wanna halt my T-Mac rant, I’ve never once heard anything that bad about him on a human level like Babcock and Peters. Sounds like he’s an okay guy. Just a worthless shit head coach.
