Can't believe people here were crying about an inevitable Rangers cup run just because they swept a historically crappy 8th seed and then barely got out of the second round only because the opponent that was dominating them got Shesterkin'd and the Rangers took advantage on special teams.

Hopefully the Devils are back in the playoffs next year so that most of this board can focus on our own team and we don't have to suffer through another playoffs where half this board dramatically declares in late April/early May that we are doomed to witness the rags win a cup despite them being obvious pretenders.

I knew Bobrovsky has a crazy cap hit but I had to look it up on capfriendly to double check what it was. He has a 10 million dollar cap hit ! They had to overpay for him quite a bit but he has been big for the Panthers these playoffs. It would be nice to see him hoist the Cup. The Panthers in general have a really likeable group of players aside from that litte issue they had with us last year.

On June 22, 2012, the Flyers traded goalie Sergei Bobrovsky to the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for a second-round and fourth-round pick in the 2012 draft and a fourth-round pick in 2013.

With the first two selections, Philadelphia selected Anthony Stolarz and Taylor Leier. The 2013 pick was subsequently dealt to the Los Angeles Kings who used it to take Justin Auger.

It's funny how the Flyers are the real losers here. The goalie they traded and the draft pick they had (Stolarz) are both teammates on a team that is in the Cup Finals lol. That's rough for a franchise who hasn't really had good goaltending since Hextall.

The real losers in all this are the hurricanes, who keep finding ways to lose in the playoffs to a perennial paper tiger.
And their response was to give the head coach a contract for the rest of the decade and off the GM (who granted I don't think is very good either).

There is something amusing in the fact that a Florida based team will have played in the Cup Final for the 5th straight year.
The funny part is I don't think Bettman would hate a Florida-Dallas final as much as maybe the TV execs would...the year after Florida-Vegas it'd be another reminder of his sunbelt strategy to grow the US market.

lol that Brooks is writing about toughness, the Rangers didn't have the speed to get to the middle against Florida. Their team is old up front and it really showed in this series.
100% The irony is while Florida is known as shithead team, the played a disciplined game this series. There was hardly any after the whistle stiff from them.
