This is like watching a game from Cory Schneider straight out of 2019. Getting beat on all these long shots.
If I didn’t know any better, I would think that he’s been bad for 3 years like Cory Schneider was by 2019. But Ducks fans, as well as fans of other teams tell me it’s the “Defense’s fault” and the “Team in front of him” so I guess I’ll take their word for it.

And yet there were fans of ours that suggested signing him this off-season.
Not for anything that stupid, but I don’t understand why anybody would want to sign him for league minimum at one year.
I’m pretty sure he literally just had his first good season in the NHL last year at 29-30 years old.
And then he looked pretty good after he first joined Pittsburgh, before he eventually regressed to what he is the next year and he fell out of favor there after they realized that he needed more than just a change of scenery.
He needed a change of career.

f*** his cult on the main board that kept voting him and eventually got him to 11th best goalie in the league. There was even one poster that called out how he kept getting upvoted by his personal fanbase in every poll.
I was a huge Gibson fan years ago, but he’s toast.
His contract is now worse than Carey Price’s, considering one guy has disappeared off to LTIR land for possibly the remainder of the deal, while Gibson still has to be iced.
And f*** everybody thinking the Leafs should have picked him up and that he actually has value on that albatross of a $6+ million per deal that still has 4 years remaining after this year that’s barely even started yet. He’s a cap dump at best and more realistically approaching Martin Jones buyout status.

I don’t know how he is personally, but he’s like Cory Schneider if Cory Schneider started falling apart 4-5 years earlier than he started falling apart.
If he started falling apart 4 years earlier than he did, we either would have acquired him just in time for his career to fall apart or we might have just stayed away. He hadn’t played nearly as many NHL games at 26 as Gibson had by that age.

I spent a lot of tonight trashing Gibson, but Grubauer is the goat in this one.
Gibson allowed 4 goals on 48 shots and Grubauer allows 5 goals on 27 shots. Blew a 3-1 lead and lost 5-4 in OT.
If they had anybody other than Martin Jones I would say bench this f***in clown.
