Honestly, we've been what Ottawa was ''Supposed'' to be this year.

Not that Ottawa was supposed to be as good as we've started, but they were supposed to be in the playoff race the entire year.

Buffalo has probably been more like what Ottawa was supposed to be this year. At least to this point they have.

You can't trust anything Dorion does. Maybe Ryan Reynolds will oust him lol.

I think Ottawa is exactly how they were expected to be. Top 10 in G/g and bottom 10 in GA/g

The Devils had a far far superior defense group leading into this year.

Wings can’t score on Halak? Yikes
I didn't realize the Red Wings played again today against the Rangers after doing my victory lap over them starting Husso yesterday and shutting out the Islanders. Cause that meant Nedeljkovic starting tonight and he's just been swampass for quite a while now.

I would bet him and Campbell might have the worst save percentages in the NHL going back to the start of the 2022 calendar year with a minimum of 30 games played. They've both gotta be down there.

Oh god, just crunched the numbers, feel free to fact check me on these, as I did them by hand and head. I had to do Campbell's by hand and head because he played 7 playoff games and there's no simulator on the NHL website to filter out regular season + playoff games since a particular date. At least not to my knowledge there isn't.

Jack Campbell from December of 2021 till now has an .893% save percentage. That's 39 regular season games + 7 playoff games.

Alex Nedeljkovic from December of 2021 till now has an .891% save percentage. That's 48 games, all regular season.

I didn't even bother calculating Blackwood in this time frame, I'm sure it's even worse, but he's only played 23 games since the start of December of 2021, which is only half as many as the other two guys.

It's amazing that Nedeljkovic has even been given over 40% of the starts in Detroit so far this season, with Husso having 2 shutouts already and having performed ASTRONOMICALLY better. I'm sure there's been a couple of back to backs already, this is one of them, but that's still a joke. I couldn't believe he got the random Buffalo start with days between games, where he got torched for a touchdown and 2 point conversion.

The Red Wings should be playing Nedeljkovic right now about as much as the Capitals have played Lindgren or the Canucks have played Spencer Martin. His only game even close to respectable this year was ''Fire Lindy'', which was his season debut.

I'm actually highly surprised at how much the Rangers have played Halak.

This is his 4th start in 12 games and he's been HORRIBLE. This isn't even a back to back. And I'm pretty sure it's not his first non-back to back start.

Not playing the goalie on back to back has become the don’t have you starter face the lineup the third time through. In a vacuum it is the right move, but sometimes your diminished starter is a better option than you rested backup/bullpen.

That said you do have to play the backup at some point. I don’t know how log jammed the Wings schedule is.

I would have played him back to back and used Ned against Montreal.

Seems like the way to maximize your points.
They may look at the point vs Mtl being more important as they are a division opponent.

I see the logic of starting the Husso vs Islanders and Montreal if you presume Rangers will take one of the automatic Metro spots at the end of the day. Though it is too early in the season to be playing that logic.

Husso hasn’t played that much in the NHL. It doesn’t matter if he’s playing way better, it’s safer to use both guys as more of a tandem this season.

The Rangers need to beat an undermanned Wings at home. This would be bad loss.
