I wonder what this would look like if it was the rags. It would probably be 0-0 because of Shesterkin, but the shots would be 45-0 COL.

Part of this may be due to TB just being dead tired from too many games last 3 years. NYR is also a faster team. TB is not exceptionally quick so it may have been more competitive

Tampa needs to find their legs in the second period. It's maybe too late already but they aren't skating. Surprising really. It looks like in the extra day off between games they lost what focus they had in game one, which already wasn't great after the second period.

I am inclined to think though that Colorado has a lot to do with it. That they are taking it to Tampa and that Tampa isn't prepared for the speed, aggression and skill they are seeing. Nothing in their run through the east seems to have prepared them for this.

I think we knew Vasilevsky was going to have to be great, but that was kinda something we expected. That he looks average at best is a death sentence for Tampa.

No but it's pretty damn hard to come back from 2-0 in two straight series, even if they're going back home. Right now this looks like 1984 Islanders-Oilers passing of the torch-type series.
For sure, but even game 1 they were outplayed and were still only one bounce away from win. This game theyre getting dominated so far, but the way you lose doesnt really matter. You only get one win. Momentum swings within a game, injury here or there, Kuemper bad game etc. and we have a whole new series.

I think the GP gets overblown for TB. They won the cups in ~70 and 56 game years. It isn’t like this is 3 straight full years

right but so far they don't look like they belong on the same ice as Colorado. So the way things are going couldn't look worse. If you want them to win, you'd like them to come out in the second period and show some life.

I agree. I'm willing to give them more time and respect though due to their legacy compared to if this was a inexperienced team.

The only reason I picked Tampa (and it was in 7) is because I really am not the least bit impressed in the way either of these Colorado goalies have played the entire playoffs.

Both are 32 year old injury cases. Francouz has both of his hips attached by duct tape (and it was really starting to show in these playoffs) and Kuemper can't seem to either stay on the ice or at least see the ice (or pucks) when he's actually been on the ice since first getting his eye what looked to be poked out and pretty serious.

And they are still are non-factors these playoffs, but it doesn't matter. That's how good Colorado is in these playoffs.

I'm pretty confident they could have gotten this far with anybody more competent than Louis Domingue. Domingue would have definitely cost them a few more losses and I could even see Domingue causing St. Louis to knock them out.

No matter what happens the rest of the way, Colorado would be DUMB to re-sign Kuemper. Unless he only wants to sign for a year or maybe two at most.

He was good in the regular season, but literally anybody but Domingue and probably anybody that played for the Devils this year could probably take them to the cup.

Even if Tampa comes back to win this series, I think this could possibly be the first of 3 straight cup finals appearances for Colorado, with two wins in there.

I think they can skimp on a goalie. I would usually not recommend it, but they seem like they can absorb it. Let Kenny Holland give Kuemper a stupid gold watch deal.

Sakic really shouldn't do the ''OOOHHHHH I GOTTA KEEP THE CUP TEAM TOGETHERRRRRR!!!!'' Stan Bowman bullshit or what many teams that just made the cup finals (but didn't win) did. Like Dallas with Khudobin.

And yes, Bowman never did that with a goalie, but he did do it with several players after the second cup win after having to shed a bunch after the first one.

TB is sorta screwed if Toronto/Florida manage themselves well...they are basically going to be 3rd in that division for awhile now. I could see that team in 3 years being torn down and Cooper gone after this contract is up in 2 years

I really could see Colorado trying for Husso, actually.

He'll be cheaper than Kuemper in both dollars and probably even term. Kuemper will have even more inflated value if they win the cup with him playing the entire finals. That might even add a year and god knows how many dollars to his next contract.

NYI likely looking to dump Varlamov but I think his contract is 4-5 mill

I don't think they're going away anytime soon.

By going away I mean not being good.

Yeah, they could be third in the division for a while, they were third in the division this year.

The whole conference is really going to begin turning over. PIT/WSH are probably done. NYI/BOS jury is out, many young pieces but too many old ones and not sure how well they can repatch. NJ/PHI/BUF/NYR probably all coming on. I think TB it depends a ton on how they can keep replacing role players...its possible other teams may become more attractive destinations.

Think they'd wanna bring him back?

Either way, all indications are that they don't wanna commit to these guys long term, which is why they didn't give Grubauer a big contract, which is looking like a GREAT move at this point.

I think they brought Kuemper in to WIN THIS YEAR, not to MAYBE win this year, but definitely in the next few.

I think you gotta get him outta there. He's giving up some weak ones to guys like Manson and Helm who don't really score.

They're not coming back in this game, so Cooper isn't gonna put himself in a corner by putting Elliott in there to allow the game winning goal after Tampa ties it up.

I could totally see Kuemper getting a shutout tonight.
