Can the Flyers please not f*** this up. I mean I know it’s the Flyers but they’re playing the Habs. At least win the few you should. I doubt they finish ahead of us at this point but at least try

...........

Yeah there's no chance we end up below Philly. Hope they win the lottery because I can definitely see them going after Jiricek and I need them to back the f*** off

Incredible

I was watching the game and no one on the entire flyers broadcast was comfortable with a one goal lead and a powerplay with a minute left. They all knew what was going to happen and they all alluded to it before it did. They flyers are an absolute disaster.

Here’s an interesting Carter Hart stat from my work.

Last year I counted just 26 goals stoppable on Hart and he allowed 89. That’s just a little more than 29% and that was just a little worse than my league average, but it was bad enough for worst (I think) save percentage in the entire league.

Including tonight’s game which has already been reviewed, I have him down for 36 goals stopppable and he’s allowed 110 goals overall. He’s close to 33% and that’s pretty far from my league average of 28%-28.5% for this year. His save percentage has been a little above league average though.

Oh and by the way, I’m not looking for too much credit here, but I also said Mrazek was a BAD signing. I quickly shot it down when I think somebody brought him up as a potential goalie for us before we signed Bernier.

He kind of overachieved last year, as well as played a pretty limited number of games. He was one of the bigger flukes of last season, outside of Mike Smith. Varlamov was also fluky good too, but he hasn’t had nearly as many bad years as Mrazek has had.

That’s a painful signing for the Leafs. Good job Dubas.

At least DeBoer tried something new and played Thompson, but I don't think he'll be playing much after a 5 goal against game.

He'll probably lean on Brossoit (who sucks) until Lehner is back.

Flyers are legit awful. We aren't finishing behind them unless we implode again, and that would be way more damaging then the benefit of picking before them.

The teams behind us are all really bad. We would need to be really bad to fall behind them, we don't want that at this point.

lol Well I mean we're only a Daws injury or slump away from imploding. Yeah I wouldn't bet on anyone below us passing us at this point. I think it's us and Chicago in the 7th/8th worst. Maybe we pass Detroit but I'm not sure about that one. I can't really see us going higher than that. Stay where we are and it's looking like a 7th/8th pick. I think at that spot there's a pretty decent chance of Jiricek/Nemec. If we pass Chicago it's looking like a 8th/9th pick and I think that gets dicey

I don't see us passing Detroit and I can see one of Ottawa or Buffalo passing us as well. We play in the best division in hockey and all 3 of the teams close to us play in the weakest division in the league. The Sens, Sabres and Wings all have games remaining against one an another and they also have to play the Habs as well.

I think we'll finish 5th or 6th because of the schedule, not because those teams are better than us.

Detroit had a tough patch 6-11-2 but have a few weaker opponents coming up. Their goaltending has imploded and they actually play worse defense then us (*gasp*).

We play the Wings twice at the very end of the season for pick excitement.

It’s pretty muddled and we have one man-boy goalie we’re going to play into the ground even though he was out a while in Dec/Jan with an injury. So who knows.

I was very surprised to hear Tyson Nash say ''That's a save the goalie has gotta make'' on the first Crouse goal (he already has a hat trick) goal. It pretty much turned into a partial breakaway and he just put one from fairly close range over Gustavsson's glove. If I marked those stoppable I would be counting A LOT more goals stoppable. If he beat him with that shot from far out and not one timed or at least within a second after he took the puck, I'd mark it stoppable, but it close range and dead center in the slot.

Now, the Josh Norris goal on Wedgewood, that's one I give a stoppable goal on. That's from further out, almost the top of the circle. It's not a terrible and I wouldn't really call it a bad one, but that's one that I'd give a stoppable goal on. And if Tyson Nash truly believes the first Crouse goal (or any of the Crouse goals) is a ''Save the goalie has gotta make'', then he absolutely should think that's also a save the goalie has to make on the Norris goal on Wedgewood.

I'd really hate for that to be the softy of the night, but that's what happens on these one (or two) game nights.

I've been asked about confirmation bias before, but there are some deviations. Basically every year of Korpisalo, I regularly count him for a lower percentage of goals stoppable or at least average, but he's maybe had one league average save percentage season since I started this and everything else has been abysmal. And he always gets outplayed by Merzlikins or Bobrovsky (except for his rookie year, if you go all the way back to 6 years ago). Koskinen almost always looks to be in the upper 30%'s in stoppable percentage, close to 40% some years and I think maybe even over 40% before. And he's almost always at .900% and .880%. Binnington always has a very low percentage, including this year, despite never really ever having a really good year after the rookie year, but never having a bad year either untll now.

John Gibson I counted 23% of his goals this year (coming into tonight) as stoppable. I think I counted a low percentage last year too, but I gotta go through my notes.

But the goal he just allowed tonight was just an absolute stinker. And he knew it after he allowed it. I don't know why he keeps getting thrown out there. Pucks just don't hit him anymore, even if the goals don't look bad.

For what it's worth, I only have Georgiev for only a little better than 24% of his goals allowed as stoppable, but last year it was almost 32%. My league average is around 28% or so. I'd have to know the exact number of goals scored on a goalie this year (I don't keep track of that) and divide my goals counted stoppable by that number.

I also have Shesterkin around 24% for this year also, he was 26.50% last year. I had a higher percentage for Shesterkin about 2 weeks ago, but since he started coming down a bit and had a few 4 and 3 goal against games, I don't think I counted more than one stoppable one on him. He had a dead angle goal get by him the other night, I think against Dallas and that was it for the last couple weeks.

Montembault with 4 GA on 7 shots…
First goal was a BAD one.

I really hope we don't sign him, unless it's just as a third string guy, but we'll hopefully have Daws and Schmid starting the year in Utica, so there's really no need for him or a veteran goalie playing in the AHL for us.

He has not been good in the NHL at all. Not on Florida, where Driedger (who isn't a very good goalie himself, but masqueraded as one for a couple years there) outplayed him and took his job, then they gave up on him and drafted Knight. He's really done nothing to get an NHL job next year. He only even has one now cause Price didn't play all season (I think he was expected to at some point, but I'm skeptical he will) and now Allen has been injured for months.

Raanta is the opposite of Korpisalo.

Gives up way too many goals that look stoppable, but somehow his save percentage (most years) looks decent to good.

And he looks so old already. He's one of the oldest looking players in the league.
